4.0 out of 5 stars Have You Had Your Puddin' Today?
Melody's hard times are finally catching up to her. Being a hairdresser is not what it's cracked up to be. With little money to pay her bills and a son who will only wear name brand clothes, Melody must step up her game. As one of her client's is going on and on about making a man "pay to play," Melody decides to go on the prowl. Does it matter that he is one of her...

3.0 out of 5 stars Started out excellent!!
This book started out with a great story line but I feel it was all over the place. I think the author combined two books in one,Big Steve's book and Melody's book because there was really no connection between the two but a bunch of unanswered letters. I think the book would have been a lot better had the author centered on a smaller group of people instead of the whole...

4.0 out of 5 stars Have You Had Your Puddin' Today?, December 7, 2006
This review is from: Someone Else's Puddin' (Paperback)
Melody's hard times are finally catching up to her. Being a hairdresser is not what it's cracked up to be. With little money to pay her bills and a son who will only wear name brand clothes, Melody must step up her game. As one of her client's is going on and on about making a man "pay to play," Melody decides to go on the prowl. Does it matter that he is one of her best client's husband?

Steve has loved Melody for as long as he can remember. She has been the wife that he has always looked for. Though taking care of her and her son has not always been his priority, hopefully she can forgive him and understand that they were meant to be together.

Pat has it going on. She has a wonderful house and a good looking husband who buys her any and everything. Let's not forget that even though she had three children, her body is better than any eighteen year old college girl. So what she brags and treats her man like garbage, that doesn't mean that he is going anywhere.

Larry is living any man's dream. He runs his own business which makes a profit that could afford him anything his heart desires. His wife is beautiful and his three children are all doing great and have careers facing them. To top it off, his mistress is incredible. She doesn't give him any problems and gives him as much as he wants in the bedroom anytime he wants it. Can his life get any better?

Samuel's debut is a solid case of good 'ole drama. It is packed with humor, sadness and just plain craziness. If you enjoy a good book that you can talk later to your girlfriends about, definitely pick this one up.

People just don't understand, it don't pay to want someone elses man or women. You might think your having fun and you won't get caught but like the saying goes "What you do in the dark will come out in the light". This was a easy and a great read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hmm, January 8, 2007

Next time you sit in your beautician's chair be careful of what you say about your man. You will never know what she has up her sleeve. There is one here in Memphis that is just like Melody that sleeps with her client's men and does not think nothing of it.

I think the book would have been a lot better had the author centered on a smaller group of people instead of the whole Riverside crack scene, and Prostitutes, and everyone in prison. Mr. Hair good try.

5.0 out of 5 stars Off the Hook, May 29, 2007
This review is from: Someone Else's Puddin' (Paperback)
I loved Samuel L. Hair's "Someone Else's Puddin'. Meet hairstylist Melody Pullman who is married to Big Steve Pullman. They were married at a young age and Big Steve falls victim to the streets. Instead of Melody supporting her husband she turns to her married client husband for comfort, financial support and a whole lot of loving. She is playing in dangerous ground. Will she get caught slipping while dipping in someone's else's puddin. You will have to read this book to find out what happens.

4.0 out of 5 stars (RAW Rating: 3.5) - What's done in the dark..., May 1, 2007

This review is from: Someone Else's Puddin' (Paperback)
While her husband Big Steve is incarcerated hairstylist Melody Pullman, is tired of struggling day in and day out. Under the sage old advice of one of her client's, she is on the lookout for a 'Sugar Daddy'. She found what she's looking for in Larry, the husband of another client. Larry is everything she'd ever wanted in a man. He keeps her bills paid and makes sure her son has everything his little heart desired. Meanwhile, her husband continues pledging his undying love for her in the many unanswered letters she receives. When Melody takes on a second lover, who introduces her to a different lifestyle, the fireworks begin to fly. Will Melody have the strength to endure both relationships, will her new lifestyle land her in big trouble or will her infidelity backfire in her face?

I found SOMEONE ELSE'S PUDDIN' to be a very delightful read; however, the storyline could use a little tweaking. In my opinion, Hair spends way too much time on Big Steve's character, which occasionally shifts the spotlight from Melody's story. The saga between Melody and her two lovers is shocking and fast-paced, leading the way to a surprising and unpredictable ending. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed this novel.
