No one writes western romance better than Leigh Greenwood consistently does. His latest Night Rider thriller is an exciting action-packed entry that lives up the quality of the three previous tales (see TEXAS HOMECOMING, TEXAS BRIDE and BORN TO LOVE). The cast is strong from the bitter Rafe to the innocent Luis to the shallow Dolores and to the loving Maria; while the secondary players like Bronc and Miguel enhance the deep look at the key characters even Laveau. Fans will enjoy this story of avarice and duplicity in Post Civil War California.

As always, Leigh Greenwood can still out do hisself when writing a book. Great book, enjoyed it very much. Brings some of the past in his series to the future so you can still know what happened in the later book if you haven't read the prior book.

The writing is good, the settings well drawn, but there was something about the characters I did not believe. Both Rafe and Maria think and analyze too much. Even as they get passionate we have endless paragraphs of thinking. There was much repetition. I found the climax simply ludicrous and melodramatic beyond sense.

I skimmed this book so much can't even wonder who would think it was a great story! This book was so boring....tons of talking, talking, and more talking without ever getting to the point.... repeated long drawn out boring conversations....will never buy this author's books again!
