The book "Someone I Love Died" is from my point of view the best. As a Pastoral Minister who deals with over 2000 children each week, one of the things I do is expain death to children. This is a concept that for them is very hard to understand. Why does God take someone they love away? This book expains clearly, correctly, the concept of death and what happens when someone dies. This understanding is done through the use of clear, concise, easy to understand language. I recommend this book to anyone who works with children or to a parent who are the first and primary educators of their children. This book is based on Christian values.

What a blessing it was for me and my children to find this book! It was simple, yet colorful and the images are easy on the eyes- pretty general so the book can be applied to the death of any friend or relative! I was pleased that it gives kids who read it (or have it read to them) the opportunity to actually draw pictures inside the book, and write things down- which makes it a good book especially for young children. My children will soon loose their Grandmother and this is a book that they can read together with mom or dad. The best thing about this book is that it's right on target with what the bible teaches. I praise God for nudging the author to write this much needed book!

My four year old son died 6 weeks ago. I have received many books for our two 7 year olds on what it's like for children who die. Most of them talk about your child becoming an angel (which has no Biblical basis), or has a lot of speculation about what the child is doing in heaven, all of which just makes for a lot of fluff that doesn't have much truth behind it.
This is the best book I have found on the topic. Everything in the book is backed up by Scripture and it is so comforting and straight forward. My kids really like this one. It has fill in the blanks where they can write things about their brother or write how they are feeling. And it presents the gospel in a clear way. I will certainly be purchasing this if we ever have a friend who loses a child (I hope that never happens though).

My Mother died on December 4, 2010 and I used this book to help my grandchildren understand what her death meant and that they would see her again...she was with Jesus in Heaven.
I found it to be a great resource.

When my daughter lost her friend at age 8 to cancer it was difficult for all of us, but this book really helped my daughter work through some of her questions and feelings. Even after a year she will pull out this book and go through it. It's been a great resources for us and I've even given it as a gift to another child who lost her grandparent.

I am a Children's Minister and this is a beautiful resource that I like to keep on hands for parents/guardians who are trying to help their children cope with the loss of a loved one. It's simple, easy to understand and right in line with what a child can understand about death, while being sensitive to the variety of ways that they grieve. I also appreciate the way the book realizes that reading it is not just a one-stop resource to a child's grief. The process is long and there will be many steps along the path to healing. It offers good suggestions on how to help a child along the grief journey and encourages families to grieve together and to share their hurts. An excellent resource that I love to be able to share but sincerely wish I didn't have to.

Book is very well done to explain death to a young child. There is places for the child to express how they feel.
