4.0 out of 5 stars Love Me for Me, August 6, 2009
This review is from: Someone To Love Me (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
Someone to Love Me is the sequel to Happily Ever Now by Nicole S. Rouse. I wish I had read the first book before reading the sequel. Not because I felt as though I had missed something, but because Rouse's writing was so inviting and realistic. Rouse used Jerome Thomas and Taylor Belle's adulterous relationship to touch on a subject that many families in the world deal with on a daily basis.

Jerome and Taylor tried to move on with their lives after their affair ended, however, faith has a different idea. Once Jerome realizes that his reoccurring dream is God's way of telling him he needs to do what is right, he has to make some serious decisions. Each choice will affect his life in a different way. How many lives will be changed forever by the action Jerome believes God had placed in his heart? For Taylor life after Jerome has its ups and down, but she is a praying woman and believes God will deliver once she straightens out the unfinished business between her and Jerome. Will peace finally be delivered into her life?

These characters were so realistic to me. The character development allowed me to believe the plot could happen to any family today. There is an outcome that even though I did not see it coming was understandable. It made me think about how often we test the ones we love. Rouse was not preachy in her writing. I recommend Someone to Love Me to those who enjoy Christian fiction and true-to-life stories. I look forward to reading more books by Rouse.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Heals All Things, June 13, 2009

This review is from: Someone To Love Me (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
This is the second book I've read by this author. I thoroughly enjoyed reading more about the lives of Taylor, Renee and Jerome, and the new character, Joi.

This book shows the complexities of dealing with the after effects of an affair. It seems obvious that Taylor and Jerome have to deal with their actions, but this novel also shows how an affair can bring turmoil into a family, even after years have passed.

This was great read and I am looking forward to the next installment of Renee, Jerome and Taylor.

Awesome job!

4.0 out of 5 stars Guilt and Forgiveness, August 2, 2009

Jerome Thomas has made many mistakes, which affected his family. But the one mistake he has the most trouble coping with is cheating on his wife. After his wife forgives him for the affair, through prayer they begin to strengthen their marriage. Although he displays love and true devotion to his wife and family, Jerome harbors a secret which begins to affect his relationship with God and could destroy his family.

Taylor Belle has asked for God's forgiveness for her part in the affair. A few years later, she marries, raises four children and is a proud owner of a consignment shop. She still feels burdened by the affair and wants to contact Jerome to bring closure, so that God will free her from her oppression.

Many years have passed since the affair and an unresolved issue has brought Jerome and Taylor back together again. Will this destroy their families or bring them closer together?

"What's done in the dark will eventually come to light" is the appropriate quote used in the back of SOMEONE TO LOVE ME. Secrets don't always stay hidden forever and because they didn't heed God's warnings, their sinful past may hurt the ones they love. How much guilt can one bear? How much forgiving can one do?

SOMEONE TO LOVE is a light, enjoyable read and I recommend it to readers of all genres.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worthy sequel, September 23, 2009

I really enjoyed this book! I was looking forward to it because I read Nicole Rouse's first book, Happily Ever Now. This one did not disappoint. The story continues following the main characters, Jerome, Renee and Taylor during the aftermath of an affair that was detailed in the previous book. I felt it showed that our actions have unintended consequences we just can't control. It also taught a lot about forgiveness and the debilitating effects of a guilty conscience. Once again, it affirms the importance of openess and honesty in marriage. As one of the characters found out, keeping secrets is bad for your health! I also thought it was a realistic portrayal of married life. The book stands alone for people who didn't read the first book, but I think knowing the history of the characters adds to the reading pleasure. The dialog is very realistic and I like that the story ending isn't the conventional happily-ever-after stuff that you read all the time. Most importanly, it was fun and enjoyable to read and it's definately not too preachy. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars So True to Life, September 20, 2009
This review is from: Someone To Love Me (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
Someone to Love Me by Nicole Rouse is a must read. From the first page of the book, I had to keep reading to find out what happens to Jerome and Renee, Lance and Taylor, and Joi. We read this book as our September 2009, book of the month, and each of my book club sisters could relate to someone in the story.

We had a lively discussion around "Why Jerome couldn't be truthful earlier on in his marriage to Renee?" "Why Taylor didn't give the Belle sisters the beat down?" "Why did Lance give in to Joi?" We went on and on about the characters in the story.

The consensus of everyone was, "Make sure you think about your actions today because if you don't you will think about your actions tomorrow." Jerome and Taylor didn't think about how their actions today could and will effect their lives in the future.

Someone to Love Me touches on everyones need to be loved and to love someone. Great book Ms. Rouse. We are waiting on the next novel that will update us on our new favorite characters: Jerome, Renee, Taylor, and Lance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Someone To Love Me, March 5, 2010
This review is from: Someone To Love Me (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
I loved the book. It was an inspiring write to let you know that God is in control once the individuals surrendered to Him. The story was well written and it shows you that we should not keep secrets from our spouse, even though it might hurt. I feel he should have told his wife in the beginning and let her decide if she could accept it. Because he took that right away from her, the consequences for him was loosing her in the end. The story did keep you reading and wanting to know what happens next.

I would read more from this author.

In order to "fly" an airplane, a pilot must learn to "take off" and "land" safely. Like a pilot, if we have a fear of flying, then taking off and landing - if at all possible - would be most difficult. In "Someone To Love Me" Nicole spreads her wings and soars into our hearts and minds - but at the end gently and carefully sets us back down to earth. I'm glad she's not afraid of flying! Dad
