5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Sounds, April 29, 2005

Kim Waters is a musician whose artistry is very fine. He epitomizes the term "smooth jazz". His technique is smooth as silk. Kim takes a que from the "old school" of jazz artists. While not relying heavily on his band, you will enjoy the purity of the instrument.

"Waterfall" is an uptempo song with Kim on alto sax that is infectious. "Heaven Sent" is a soft, soulful sound that drifts away to the sounds of Kim's soprano sax. "The Ride" is just that! It will carry you on a musical journey. This is one of Kim's most popular songs and returns on a later cd as a bonus track with a different tempo remix. "In The Mood" is a deeply sensuous song. This is the remedy for a relaxing evening. "In The House" is a bonus track from an earlier recording with a remix sound. It is upbeat, funky, and fun. Chuck Loeb's contribution on guitar makes this one just that much special.

Kim Waters wrote most of the songs on this cd and they are the stand-out numbers. Kim in concert is a rousing experience. His sound will blow you away. He has that infectious feel and loves what he does. This is a must for smooth jazz sax lovers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Senuous Smooth Sax, January 24, 2004
This review is from: Someone to Love You (Audio CD)
This is Kim Water's finest creation ever. He knows how to hone his tenor and soprano sax to reach and relax us with "In the Mood" "Strollin'" and "Someone to Love You." He then elevates the mood with "The Ride," "Waterfall" and bonus tune, "In the House---Davey D's Penthouse Remix." Congratulations Kim on such an excellent music collection!!!!

WOW, Kim came PHAT on this one. I have all of his CD's and even though I like his music, this one has that hip hop jazz tune that I look for when I buy my jazz. definite hit. CONGRATS Kim. let me know when you do your concert in D.C.

5.0 out of 5 stars Getting to mood right........., May 7, 2008
This review is from: Someone to Love You (Audio CD)
Kim Waters often gets overlooked when it comes to jazz musicians. Mostly because everyone is always anxiously waiting for the next Boney James LP to drop (myself included). So it's easy to miss this R&B-flavored smooth jazz favorite. Standouts include the Donell Jones song "You Know That I Love You", "Heaven Sent", "In The Mood" and most notably the title track. Album songs like "Stollin" and "Riverside Drive" are also fresh cuts. This record is an under-the-radar breakthrough for the veteran saxaphonist Kim Waters.

When you want vocals, turn to Luther. When you walk no vocals, turn to this CD. Every track is a solid track for a laid back sexy and sultry groove. I particularly like Strollin although every track is great. When you find a copy for good cost, buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth Jazz At It Best, December 10, 2006
This review is from: Someone to Love You (Audio CD)
Kim Waters delivered some of his best work on his Someone to Love You disc. The CD features two amazing cover songs the first being the self-titled song and Donell Jones's You Know That I Love You. There's also a two killer slow jams. In The Mood and Heaven Sent blend this dreamy seduction ability with the slickest in modern-meets-retro-soul grooves and ambience.
