If you like old school house, then this is a solid album to add to your collection. The original and remix versions of "Got A Love For You" will make you want to get up and dance, or at least bring back some old clubbing remembrances.

5.0 out of 5 stars they really make your body rock!, November 23, 2003

This review is from: Someone to Love Me (Audio CD)
"Someone to love me" by Jomanda is a great album to listen to or dance to. It has many great dance tunes as well as a few nice R&B songs as well. They are one of my favorite groups and it's too bad they didnt stick around for very long, cuz they're very good. "Come Share My Love," "Make MY Body Rock," "Don't You Want My Love," and "Someone To Love Me" are all great enjoyable dance hits of the early '90's. This is a great CD to bring to any dance party or to a club. The song "Dance" is a rap dance track with vocals from Renee of Jomanda. "It Ain't No Big Thang" is a slower relaxing song sung with lead vocals of Cheri Williams and is one of my personal favorites off the album. The ladies harmonize well together and their voice blend very nicely. This CD is rather old, (over ten yrs old), but still sounds great even to this day. This is a total must have for any die-hard music lover or true dance fan! I strongly recommend this.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Bright & Excellent Debut. Visit jomanda.com, March 3, 2003

Bouncing between En Vogue influenced comtemporary R&B and more club oriented house or dance music, Jomanda is one of the better "girl groups". Though the influence of En Vogue's soaring harmonies is difficult to miss here, the trio have their own likable personalities. Besides, En Vogue was not recording nearly as much dance music as Jomanda. Decent to very good material range from the high-tech R&B of "Share", "What's the Deal?" & "Ain't No Big Thing" to the house music of "Don't You Want My Love", "Got a Love for You", "Make My Body Rock" & "Dance" all indicated that Jomanda is worth keeping an eye on.

Who are these beautiful girls and where did they come from? Jersey is well represented with this album. "Make My Body Rock 1990" and "When Love Hurts" are dance floor fillers. The basslines are so smooth it's insane! "Share" is at a slower tempo than the routine House tracks but the melodies and harmonizing are on point! The same goes for "It Ain't No Big Thing". In fact, these two selections would compliment any R&B set! "Got A Love For You" is a great track and Hurley's House Mix is simply awesome! Steve "Silk" Hurley was a major influence in the early years of the Chicago House scene and several years later, upon this album's release, his influence is still felt! If you ever find the EP grab it quickly -- Hurley's mix and a few others make the song shine! Another Chicago-influenced track is "Dance", an experiment in Hip-House. The Chicago element is minor but those who remember Mike Dunn will recognize the sample from "Dance You Mutha".

1990 was a great year for House Music. It really started to gain national attention and the release of this album showcased another group of rising stars. Independent record labels would finally get the chance to showcase their artists and have them share some of the spotlight with other "known" dance artists. As a matter of fact, Jomanda was originally on Big Beat before being picked up by Atlantic -- another reason to buy the album!!!

A Kid's Review

This particuar cd has become a definative album for R&B /Dance fans . My fav tracks on this cd are "Share", "Make My Body Rock 1990", "I'll Give to You",and their #1 hit "Got a Love For You" and the more memeoreable "Got a Love For You "[House Mix].The entire album is satisfying . You got the r&b to listen and mellow out with and the r&b /dance - pop material to get you up on your feet . Overall a great and memoreable album by a group that should really consider starting solo careers in R&B /Dance -Pop ,Techno/House where their would be more visable rather than the boring contemporery r&b market. Also buy these similar cd's Robin S.- "From Now On", Rozalla- "Look No Further"& Kristine W.- "Stronger".

Jomanda's "Someone 2 Luv Me" has got all the classic club jamz of the 90's, when club music was in full effect. You just can duplicate the sound of this era, the dancefloors were packed, and Jomanda ruled the club world with "Don't U Want M' Luv", "Make M' Body Rock", and one of my favourite dance songs ever "Got A Luv 4 U" (Hurley Mix). These songs bring back such good memories, and they still sound good 18 years later, wow! it's been that long!! Jomanda still rocks the house with this classic cd, so pop it in and dance.

Back in '91 they had two tracks off the album on the radio...then I spaced out on them until 13 years later in 2004, I bought it, love it! Excellent soulful tunes, some lively tracks and also deep, sultry, slow jams for the bedroom. I love these girls, wish they had had greater commercial success. Now I'm buying another CD, can't remember where I left the 1st one.
