If this were a movie it would be a blockbuster hit. Melanie reveals long hidden truths in this continuing Cochran/Deveraux saga with Adam Cochran and his "business" partner and "best friend" Alicia Fuentes taking center stage. If this were a movie it would be a blockbuster hit. Melanie reveals long hidden truths in this continuing Cochran/Deveraux saga with Adam Cochran and his "business" partner and "best friend" Alicia Fuentes taking center stage. Witnessing Adam and Alicia's constant companionship at the on-going Cochran/Deveraux gatherings it was a matter of time and constant harrassment of loyal readers before this gifted author gave us "Something To Talk About".

Adam and Alica have been friends since college, although they were involved with other people their friendship was always special. In a life altering discovery that deepens the unique bond between the pair Adam becomes the strength, comfort and security the devastated Alicia needs to hold her up. It is their mutual respect for one another and their desire to protect their friendship that they make a promise to never allow anything to change it.

During their 10 year friend/companionship they have honored their promise, although both date, their hearts wont continue to deny the depth of the love they feel for one another. It is with a little coaxing from Bryant Porter, Clay Deveraux's friend and best man at his wedding, as well as a little competition that Alicia thinks is after Adam that spurs them into action and confessions of the heart. Adam and Alicia's love revelation finally puts an end of them perpetrating simply friends to discover what they've wanted all along, "EACH OTHER"!! It's after their realization that the story opens to more revelations in a big way.

Questions about John Flores are answered, family is united and reunited giving new meaning to "AM I MY BROTHERS KEEPER". This is another Schuster book that you laugh, laugh, and enjoy the love. Bryant Porter, the Fuentes brothers, Titus and Paris, are a few of the stories I look for in the future, A Fool For You, John and Nina's story will more than likely provide "Something(else)To Talk About" very soon.

Melanie Schuster is on my list of authors who don't disappoint. In this, Alicia and Adam's story, we get to see the journey from a deep friendship into a meaningful romantic relationship.

Friends since graduate school and business partners for years, Alicia and Adam have been fighting off the romantic feelings that they harbor for each other for a decade. As they each come to realize the true depths of their feelings for each other, we see their transformations both physically and emotionally.

Added to the delightfully rich story are more tales of the ongoing Cochran/Deveraux family saga that is a common thread in Ms. Schuster's novels. It's wonderful because we get to catch up with old characters like Donnie and his lady love, while getting a glimpse into the present and future of the Cochran/Deveraux clan. We also meet new characters such as Alicia's brothers who I hope will appear in future novels of Ms. Schuster.

Ms. Schuster's novels are keepers and "Something to talk about" doesn't disappoint. Although you might enjoy it more if you've read previous novels that introduce the characters, once you read it you'll be left breathlessly awaiting Ms. Schuster's next foray into the Cochran/Deveraux family.

5.0 out of 5 stars Melanie has out done herself!!, March 31, 2005
This review is from: Something to Talk About (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Melanie Schuster has given us another masterpiece in "Something to Talk About". In this latest installment of the Cochran/Deveraux saga it is now Adam Cochran's turn at love.

Adam Cochran and Alicia Fuentes are not only long time business partners but are also the best of friends. Although they have acted on these feelings once during grad school, they felt it was for all the wrong reasons and decided to remain friends. Thanks to some outside interference, one being an old family friend, and the other being an interested business client, Adam and Alicia finally confess their love for one another. And it is Alicia's love that helps Adam overcome some dark family secrets that have come to light.

Melanie also answers the question, "who is John Flores?". This book also gives us a better understanding as to who "Big Benny" really is......a man who truly loves his family and the lengths he'll go through to protect them.

Melanie is to be commended for the phenomenal work she has done. Every book takes us on a journey as though we are discovering love for the very first time. I have been a fan for a long time and will continue to be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful from beginning to end!, May 29, 2005
This review is from: Something to Talk About (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
I've read all of Ms. Schuster's books, so I was anxiously waiting for Alicia and Adam's story, and I was not disappointed. The Cochrans are a big, rambunctious family who do everything with gusto, and Alicia and Adam's coming together in this book was no exception. Longtime readers already knew that the two were attracted to each other, but we simply didn't know the backstory: what connected these two best friends. Now we know and, boy, what a passionate, fiery episode Ms. Schuster has given us. I also enjoyed the secondary story with John Flores and Nina Whitney. This book was full of secrets and revelations. Family togetherness, and private rendezvous. Everything a good romance novel should be. Ms. Schuster only gets better and better with each novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars ALL THAT!!, May 2, 2005
This review is from: Something to Talk About (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Melanie has done it again! Hot romance, "real" down to earth characters, a little bit of suspense, a surprise or two here and there and some Cochran Chaos make for another fabulous story! Adam and Alicia are the perfect couple who took forever to actually become a couple! If this is your first Cochran/Devereaux story, it will not be your last! Start from the beginning of the series and become part of a legacy.

I've always enjoyed Melanie's books and this one ranks along with the others. An enjoyable read for any romance lover. The characters are described wonderfully and you feel like you know the whole family as she incorporates members from the other Cochran and Deveraux families.

If you're looking for a great love story that has turns and twists this is a must have!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great one about the Cochran/Deveraux Clan!, April 28, 2005
This review is from: Something to Talk About (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
If you loved the others in the series you will love this one too. Melanie Schuster knows how to write about explosive love and make you "feel the love" it as you read about it.

The love that Adam and Alicia share is amazing. These two friends have loved one another for years, but the fear of losing their friendship scared them away from expressing their true feelings. In the end love prevails. You will enjoy reading about how these two friends become lovers and how this family comes together in the midst of drama. Great read for a plane/train ride but be sure to bring along a follow-up book because this one is so hot that it will take you no time to finish it. So, if you haven't read the other books in the series, get them all and ENJOY! You will love the Cochran/Deveraux Clan!

This review is from: Something to Talk About (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
How can you be the best of lovers, yet be the best of friends? Melanie Schuster surely knows the secret. In Something To Talk About, another devilishly handsome Cochran man bites the dust. This time it is Adam Cochran who comes to the realization that his relationship with his business partner Alicia Fuentes can no longer remain at status quo.

Adam and Alicia have been friends since college. But not wanting to jeopardize the deep friendship they share has caused them to withhold their true feelings. So, what's a writer to do? Ms. Schuster conjures up the perfect supporting characters to help Alicia heat things up a little bit. Well, that's just a little more than Adam can sit still for and he and Alicia are soon on their way to discovering the blissful love they have had for each other all along.

But the romance between Adam and Alicia isn't the only "Something To Talk About"! Along the way, Ms. Schuster reveals the true identity of a character she introduced in her first novel. The mystery reunites a host of Cochrans and even a couple of the Deveraux clan members. The author seamlessly writes past characters into the storyline to allow the reader to visit with some of the couples she's written about in the past. It takes the whole clan to handle the drama that ensues once the mystery man is revealed. Great job Ms. Shuster! Who's next?

4.0 out of 5 stars Friends or Lovers?, August 12, 2005

This review is from: Something to Talk About (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
With SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT, Melanie Schuster has delivered an energectic
family drama. Adam Cochran and Alicia Fuentes have been best friends since college. He is the yin to her yang in a purely platonic way. But life is rarely ever that simple between a man and a woman who are that close.

After Adam's girlfriend and Alicia's fiancé were caught in a compromising position, Adam and Alicia rebounded and took their friendship to another level. Later, deciding friendship was more important than a relationship, they toned down their emotions. For the last ten years they have shared a lucrative partnership with their architectural firm. But an annual community fundraiser, which features eligible bachelors to the highest bidder, stirs Alica's emotions, emotions that are more amourous than platonic. She may finally be bold enough to act on her feelings for Adam.

Adam has always felt more for Alicia than friendship, he was merely respecting her wishes to just be friends; a position that is becoming increasingly hard to maintain. While planning how best to share his feelings with her his father drops a bomb on the family. The fallout alienates Adam and sets him up to do something he adamantly opposes. But this may be just the incentive he and Alicia need to throw their 'friendship thing' out with the bath water, and finally follow their hearts.

Melanie is relatively new in the Romance arena in terms of years being published; however, her writing is not an indication of this fact. She has blended powerful characters, caring families, believable drama, an element of scandal, and has produced some action packed moments. SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT is the sixth novel in this series and it still has readers anticipating how the family drama will play out. Good writing, great characterization, entertaining reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finding True Love, April 21, 2005
This review is from: Something to Talk About (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Platinum Review Rating: 4

Melanie Schuster presents the fifth book of the Cochran-Deveraux dynasty this time she takes the plot to a whole new level introducing old and new characters. Mrs. Schuster brings a new perspective of undeniable love with Something To Talk About

Alicia Fuentes never thought that love would find her. The man she loves is her best friend and business partner. Alicia met Adam Cochran at M.I.T. where they formed a unique friendship that lead to them having an undeniable bond, but exactly how much could one take before love can truly prevail. Adam Cochran knew he loved Alicia, but after a promise was made a decade before he didn't dare attempt to present his feelings to Alicia.

Everyone around Alicia and Adam knew they were in love and had taken to fighting off the idea thinking that the other would object and that their friendship would end. After a little interference from family and friends Alicia and Adam admit their feelings for one another, but not before a life altering secret test the strength of their love.

The story had a lot of historical facts that made the story that more believable. Melanie is an exquisite storyteller with a style of her own.
