The '07 release of the DVD `Something About Mary' is the latest in an ever-growing number of well produced documentaries exploring the most enigmatic female figure in the history of Western Civilization, Mary Magdalene. The dramatic re-enactments are superior and the footage shot in Southern France of Magdalene's sacred sites and holy places incites feelings of deep mystery and wonder. That coupled with magnificent artwork depicting the "fallen saint" make this a film you'll come back to whenever thoughts of Magdalene come to mind.
My Rating: The information provided in this 97 minute feature doesn't cover any new material you haven't seen in other documentaries but worth the time and effort anyway. Whether a devotee of Mary Magdalene or just among the curious, this is a good place to begin; -4 ½ Stars-. |
