5.0 out of 5 stars A Swede's review...
A perfect murder mystery with a touch of the supernatural, a number of possible suspects which will put wild guesses of motive in your head. Twists and turns that will make your thoughts fall apart, and some romance on top of that. What more can anyone want?
Sandy's way of describing with random details makes the characters and the scenes come alive, as well as they...

1.0 out of 5 stars I'd like to like this book, but can't get past the first chapter
Prior to my 2-cents worth in this review, this paperback was batting 1000.

13 out of 13 5-star reviews.

But I can't get past the first chapter... I hate it (in western novels, as an example) when horses change color.

Here we are in chapter 1, with Abby and her soon to be official fiancee looking over a potential engagement...

Sandy's way of describing with random details makes the characters and the scenes come alive, as well as they made me laugh in the middle of the dramatized and puzzling chapters.
The only problem with this book is that while reading it on the beach you'll forget to turn and lay on the other side in the sun. The book keeps you hooked! I wish I had Sandy's next mystery at the beach already tomorrow.

"Something Borrowed Something Blue is a thrill ride of a mystery that keeps the reader guessing at every turn.
Sandy Henry not only propels you at top speed, but for good measure, she will throw in a twist that will plunge you to the bottom screaming."

Author of the forthcoming novel Digging Up Bones.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Book In 2004!!!, June 28, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Something Borrowed, Something Blue (Paperback)
Something Borrowed, Something Blue is a WONDERFUL book! Once you pick it up, you will never want to put it down! It makes you feel as if you are the main character, Abby Duncan, and these exciting and scary things are actually happening to you! Anyone that enjoys a good "murder mystery" book should read this novel.
I give it two thumbs up, and I can't wait until Sandy's next book comes out! I will be the first person in line to buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than playing Clue, August 22, 2005
This review is from: Something Borrowed, Something Blue (Paperback)
A winding, twisting tale of murder, romance, friendship, and family. Something Borrowed, Something Blue moves quickly and easily through a smart, unique story that left me hanging until the last few pages. Having read dozens of murder mysteries, this one was particulary appealing to me because it doesn't get lost in the details. Firming sticking to the story, Sandy Henry is now canonized in my short list of authors who wrote works I "couldn't put down."

Better than Professor Plum with the candlestick in the library.

I love this book! I read it in a single evening. Just when you think you've figured it out Sandy adds a new twist, and the characters are off and running. Sandy is very descriptive in her writing, and she keeps you guessing until the very end.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT, July 27, 2004

This book was excellent. It was well written and easy to follow. There weren't too many characters to keep track of and it just kept your interest all the way through. I picked up the book and thought I would start reading it, but it captures you from the very beginning, I couldn't put it down until I read every last page.

If you toss Something Borrowed, Something Blue into your bag with the suntan lotion and canned iced coffee, you will have the ingredients for a perfect day at the beach or pool. Sit back, enjoy the read and look forward to Sandy Henry's next book.

If you love mystery and suspense you'll be sucked right into Abby's life. This book is a quick read and is great for vacation. Sandy weaves a tale of intrigue and romance that leaves her readers anxiously awaiting her next book. If you read Mary Alice Higgins and Joy Fielding you can add Sandy Henry to your list of favorite authors.

1.0 out of 5 stars I'd like to like this book, but can't get past the first chapter, January 21, 2011

This review is from: Something Borrowed, Something Blue (Paperback)
Prior to my 2-cents worth in this review, this paperback was batting 1000.

13 out of 13 5-star reviews.

But I can't get past the first chapter... I hate it (in western novels, as an example) when horses change color.

Here we are in chapter 1, with Abby and her soon to be official fiancee looking over a potential engagement ring... No diamond, but instead a blue stone. Abby's friend, Deb, is showing it. Abby loves it, but Deb says such an event deserves diamond. Groom to be, Rick, agrees, and then says, "Whatever. Let's just get out of here, huh?" (They have reservations for dinner...)

Abby convinces Deb to hang on to the ring, and Deb agrees not to sell it for 48 hours.

As Rick and Abby leave for dinner, Abby "Waved bye-bye to the ring, and Deb stowed it away in the walnut cabinet above the counter." Deb subsequently closes up the shop.

So now, WHERE IS THE RING? Obviously in the cabinet above the counter.

NOT!

Because the next thing we read is that Abby is glad that she persuaded Deb to let her "test drive" the vintage ring "...with a promise to return it to the cabinet after dinner."

So now I'm confused. Deb put the ring away and closed shop, but Abby is wearing it with the promise to return it after dinner.

Until I figure out how the ring can be in two places at once, I'm stuck, and can't get past Chapter One.

Anyone: If I've missed something here, please let me know. 13 people say this is a 5-star book. I'd like to enjoy it too, but...

On another note...

Another observation on thumbing through the pages: The chapters in this first novel by author Sandy Henry are extremely short (like 2-3 pages?), and appear to be in two parts (divided). I can't say more about that, however, since I can't get past the first chapter.

I received my book in a fast manner. The book was in superb condition; like new when I received it. It's a great read and kept me on my toes and guessing who the murderer was with each page I turned until the very end. I just couldn't put it down! I will be recommending this book and seller to my book loving friends!
