Product Description

Meet King Antiochus, coming soon to an apocalypse near you.

When he died 21 centuries ago he never passed on; instead his spirit waited for resurrection. He's been preparing for his return. Watching humanity until its fruit ripened, ready to be harvested for the New Age.

That time is now.

To Christians, Antiochus defines Antichrist. He is the "abomination" Jesus warned about. The "little horn" of the prophet Daniel who needs no God other than himself. Yet he is also brilliant, supremely powerful, and capable of saving humanity. It's a recipe for Armageddon.

Along the way, meet Darianna, the beguiling queen of Antiochus reincarnated as the wife of an archaeologist, who discovers her King's secret burial place beneath Mt. Nemrut, Turkey.

Also meet Akbar, a local villager whose life is upended after learning that he lived before, long ago, but has a hard road ahead to finding out who he was.

Then meet Demetrius, leader of a worldwide movement for peace and enlightenment based from Nemrut, the sacred mountain.

Readers will meet more fascinating characters as they follow Antiochus from his first miraculous announcement to his Second Coming.

Call it New Age or end times fiction, supernatural thriller or paranormal fantasy – fans of many different genres will find something (and someone) to love in Something Coming, by J.M. DeBord!

Available on Kindle as two books: Something Coming Book One: The Sacred Mountain, and Book Two: The Second Coming of Antiochus.

Something Coming is a spell-binding journey across time, through inner space and back to a jarring reality. The characters are richly drawn and have your heart aching through their epic struggles and triumphs. Ancient mysteries are explained and new mysteries are created. J.M. DeBord spins a tale that seems to mirror our own unfolding world. I look forward to the "something more coming."

5.0 out of 5 stars Suspended my disbelief, June 8, 2010
By
This review is from: Something Coming, a New Age Thriller Book 1: The Sacred Mountain (Kindle Edition)
I know a good book by how it takes me somewhere I've never been, into a fresh scenario with interesting characters. Really good books pull me out of my comfort zone - sometimes to read new genres, other times to discover new ideas or possibilities - and suspends disbelief. Something Coming hooked me early by going somewhere I've never been, to a fantastic mountaintop monument site in Turkey, Mt. Nemrut, then built an original plot around the rise of a master peacemaker espousing a sensational new religion. Behind the peacemaker: an ancient power that Christians think is the Antichrist: Antiochus Epiphanes. Check your end times prophecies and his name is chiseled right next to Lucifer's, but as a spirit he is truly enlightened, brimming with ideas about how to save the world from war and apocalypse and religious zealots. His plan is not pretty, and I imagine that Christians will think they're being maligned, but just read to the end - all is not as it seems. The story hooked me early and reeled me in to read the sequel. I will tell you that it's really well written; takes the reader to a new place more "mystical" than I'm used to in my fiction, but recognizable and grounded in the present day. For that I give 5 stars and advise fans of thrillers, end times fiction, paranormal, or "New Age" (past lives, universal spirituality, shamanism) to read this book. You'll want to read the sequel too. It's half as long and hits fast and furious: Something Coming Book Two: The Second Coming of Antiochus Enjoy!

More About the Author

Little did I know what I was asking for when, as a 16-year-old with a dream, I prayed to grow up to be an author. Oh the trouble I could have saved myself by just continuing with computer science! But I can look back over the past 20+ years and say that getting to this point as a writer was worth it, though much more difficult than I could have imagined as a teenager who looked at all the possibilities of what he could be and picked "author".

This is not a profession for touchy egos. Go into banking or computer science instead. Sure, the idea of sitting around all day dreaming up shit to write about sounds great. What a lifestyle, working in a bathrobe in my own home on my own time.

Reality is, authors spend a lot of time presenting their work to people who couldn't give a damn, begging someone - sometimes anyone - to read their words. And unless born exceptionally talented, beginners will suck compared to true pros. Reality is that professional writing requires a skill set that maybe one out of 100 amateur writers possess. Maybe one out of ten of them will make a good living, catching the breaks needed to get their work in front of a publisher or agent who loves it and knows how to sell it. Then along came e-books, giving new life to indie authors like myself and new hope of reaching our audience.

I've published hundreds of newspaper articles and worked just about every angle of writing and media: print, TV, radio, ad copy, SEO, newsletters, brochures, fiction, etc. And I worked for 11 years to create my first novels: "Something Coming, a New Age Thriller," and "Something Coming Book Two: The Sacred Mountain." The odyssey began while reading a newspaper article about an excavation of Mt. Nemrut. Next thing I know I'm scribbling ideas as fast as possible. I saw an Antichrist-like spirit beneath the mountain, leading archeological researchers to its discovery. But as I learned more about Nemrut - its history and purpose - and Second Coming prophecy, the more a story emerged that blurs the lines. Above all, I wanted to create a completely original novel that could act as a vehicle for my observations about people, spirituality, ideology, current events, philosophy. Well, 505 pages later....

Enough about me for now - go read my books! And remember: no matter how bad the condition of the world appears to be (I write this as the Gulf of Mexico chokes on BP oil), we have the ability to create our reality. As an author I've learned that the creations of my mind are creations in their own right. And if something is wanted badly enough - like my desire to write novels - a person can endure any hardship, tribulation or loss. Well, I want my beautiful clean planet back, and I'm picturing it piece by piece. Peace. ~J.M.D.
