5.0 out of 5 stars Answering the Question - is there a second coming?
Something Coming is a spell-binding journey across time, through inner space and back to a jarring reality. The characters are richly drawn and have your heart aching through their epic struggles and triumphs. Ancient mysteries are explained and new mysteries are created. J.M. DeBord spins a tale that seems to mirror our own unfolding world. I look forward to the...

1.0 out of 5 stars Somrthing's Coming
The imagery is rich, the characters likable, and the story seems facinating. But oh! This book is hard work to read because the sentences and paragraphs are so poorly constructed that the reader can't follow what the author is trying to say! I was sorry to finally give up, after struggling through 11 chapters. This book could truly benefit greatly from a good editor, and...

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, exciting, fun!, February 20, 2010

Something Coming synthesizes the world's numerous spiritualities, with history, with the contest between the Light and the dark, with adventure, depth of character and suspense. It's a "must read" for people who love to explore philosophies and ideologies in totally absorbing fiction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suspended my disbelief, June 8, 2010
By
This review is from: Something Coming, a New Age Thriller Book 1: The Sacred Mountain (Kindle Edition)
I know a good book by how it takes me somewhere I've never been, into a fresh scenario with interesting characters. Really good books pull me out of my comfort zone - sometimes to read new genres, other times to discover new ideas or possibilities - and suspends disbelief. Something Coming hooked me early by going somewhere I've never been, to a fantastic mountaintop monument site in Turkey, Mt. Nemrut, then built an original plot around the rise of a master peacemaker espousing a sensational new religion. Behind the peacemaker: an ancient power that Christians think is the Antichrist: Antiochus Epiphanes. Check your end times prophecies and his name is chiseled right next to Lucifer's, but as a spirit he is truly enlightened, brimming with ideas about how to save the world from war and apocalypse and religious zealots. His plan is not pretty, and I imagine that Christians will think they're being maligned, but just read to the end - all is not as it seems. The story hooked me early and reeled me in to read the sequel. I will tell you that it's really well written; takes the reader to a new place more "mystical" than I'm used to in my fiction, but recognizable and grounded in the present day. For that I give 5 stars and advise fans of thrillers, end times fiction, paranormal, or "New Age" (past lives, universal spirituality, shamanism) to read this book. You'll want to read the sequel too. It's half as long and hits fast and furious: Something Coming Book Two: The Second Coming of Antiochus Enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprising Indie Author, July 19, 2010

I will admit that I am a bit surprised at the talent of this Indie Author. The writing style of this author can be put on the list with most of the well established authors of our time.

The material appears to be very well researched and presented in a very "cerebral" story. It leaves you with many questions as to the future of mankind and how careful we should be in choosing the ones we follow.

My only negative on the book is the ending. It was very abrupt for me and I was not expecting it. It was like watching a television show and suddenly, 'To Be Continued', pops up on the screen. Of course, now I will have to decide if I want to know the ending by getting the next book.

I keep coming back to this book!I love the way DeBord weaves ancient mysteries and captures the current global zeitgeist. The characters jump off the page and into your psyche conjuring archetypal opposing energies of epic proportions.I loved this book and can't wait for DeBords' next offering.

4.0 out of 5 stars Future blockbuster?, January 16, 2010
A real page-turner! I have to say I was disappointed at the abrupt ending, but realized then that there is a second book coming....
I have a sneaky suspicion that this is going to be a future blockbuster. Hollywood, are you listening?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read - a real page turner, December 12, 2009
I finished "Something Coming" and must say, "Well done!" I loved that bewitching character, Darianna. And that ending! I will not spoil it for readers. If I remember right , Mt. Nemrut and Antiochus (the main setting and character) were real figures from history. And those two Jewish gals descended from Judas Maccabee were very interesting. Antiochus wanting to be reincarnated as super king and turns out to be ... Well again, I won't spoil it.

The idea of a second coming is prominent in nearly all religions. The Christians believe that Christ is coming back to judge the world and Satan. He will bring in a period of one thousand years of peace and perfection. Christian believes there will be a seven-year period when all hell breaks lose, called the Tribulation. There will be severe judgment rained down on the earth. It is described vividly in the book of Revelation, the last book of the Bible. Satan will appear in fleshly form as the Antichrist, similar to how the author presents Antiochus in "Something Coming", except with an interesting twist so that we're not sure what he really is.

The idea of an archaeological dig is fascinating. Finding more than just archaeological artifacts makes it even more interesting. Finding something supernatural? The author peaked my interest and had my attention from start to finish. I love to read stories about the second coming and end times. I am a Christian, but of course the novel paints a much wider picture than just what one religion can offer. But it is fiction. The reader must remember that. I hope no one gets hung up on the facts, it is fiction, painted well

I can't wait to read the follow-up.

Again, well done.

1.0 out of 5 stars A poorly contstructed piece of crap.Save your money!, March 6, 2011

A mess of new age crap masquerading as I don't know what. It has little to do with Christian endtime saga or anything Christian as a matter of fact.

Sentences and paragraphs are also poorly constructed thus making it a rather boring read as well.
