Book Description

Torchwood Series 2 November 1, 2008

Torchwood. Protecting the Earth against alien threats in the 21st Century - the time when everything changes.

A Doctor Who spin-off created by Russell T Davies and starring John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness, Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper, Burn Gorman as Owen Harper, Naoko Mori as Toshiko Sato and Gareth David-Lloyd as Ianto Jones, Torchwood is a high-octane sci-fi thriller, full of adventure, passion, humour and excitement.

The second series saw Torchwood investigating alien sleeper cells; saving a stranded creature from human exploitation; meeting a First World War soldier; and dealing with a memory thief who exposes long-held secrets within the whole team; not to mention encountering charismatic rogue Captain John Hart (played by James Marsters of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame) and calling on the assistance of former TARDIS traveller Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman).

In Something in the Darkness, noted TV historian Stephen James Walker gives the full low-down on the action, complete with character profiles, cast and production team information, behind-the-scenes details and a comprehensive guide to each of the 13 episodes.

Something in the Darkness is every fan's one-stop guide to the secret world of Torchwood.

1.0 out of 5 stars iffy book, November 16, 2008
This review is from: Something in the Darkness: The Unofficial and Unauthorised Guide to Torchwood Series Two (Torchwood Series 2) (Paperback)
When this book first came out in the UK, there was a lot of uproar about it. The author copied and pasted other people's words from their blogs and websites without letting the original writer's know or getting their permission first. I've seen some of it and the book is horrible. Save your money. I wasted my money on his book for the first version and it's the only TW book that I tossed. His second book is a repeat of the first.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good guide for fans, December 7, 2008

This review is from: Something in the Darkness: The Unofficial and Unauthorised Guide to Torchwood Series Two (Torchwood Series 2) (Paperback)
Lots of information packed into this book. Since it's not official, there are no photos inside, but it makes up for that by being much more in-depth than any official guidebook has been. This book is written for adults, while the official books seem to be written for a sixth grade reading level. If you like Torchwood, you'll like this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A solid gift for fans of the series, November 8, 2008
This review is from: Something in the Darkness: The Unofficial and Unauthorised Guide to Torchwood Series Two (Torchwood Series 2) (Paperback)
Doctor Who has been a wildly popular series, so it's no surprise Torchwood has carried much of that same fan base. "Something in the Darkness: The Unofficial and Unauthorized Guide to Torchwood Series Two" is a complete and comprehensive guidebook to the second season called series in the United Kingdom to the popular show. Discussing the concepts of the show and what lays ahead from the hints layed out in the thirteen episodes, "Something in the Darkness" is a solid gift for fans of the series.
