5.0 out of 5 stars Part diary, part narrative, part fun, July 25, 2000
Growing up in the Bay Area I had often heard of Wavy Gravy because of his exploits in Berkeley. After I left to go to college I never forget about Wavy. Bored one day I surfed the internet and learned that Wavy had written a book or two. Immediately I came here to purchase one, but was denied because it is out of print. Due to perserverence I managed to find one at a used book shop.

Oh my. I had no clue that the history of this man was so compelling. The various events and activities that he has been involved in are incredible, it seems as if Wavy has had a hand in every major counter culture event of the past thirty years.

This book is not normal. Part diary, part narrative, part fun. I recommend this book to all who show a passing interest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mandatory reading, August 31, 1998
By A Customer
This book should be on everyones bookshelf. Everyone should be required to read it by their 21st birthday. The pearls of wisdom that Wavy Gravy shares are perfectly matched by his wit and humor and the format of the book is that in which one can pick it up for as little as 2 minutes a day or as long as you like.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great insights, February 14, 2010
What happened to the hippies? This book is a profile of (and by) one of the most colorful people from Woodstock: Wavy Gravy, aka Hugh Romney.

Funny, sad and insightful, this book is a must-read for anyone who wants to understand what the hippie movement -- and its aftermath -- looked like from the inside.

5.0 out of 5 stars Something Good for Earth People...., March 6, 2000

This review is from: Something Good for a Change: Random Notes on Peace Thru Living (Hardcover)
Wavy Gravy and the Hog Farm collected money in barrels at the Woodstock Festival in 1969 to be used for Earth People's Park, a multi-acre live-in community farm in Vermont, USA.

Feds came in with planted guns, kilos of marijuana, and search and arrest warrants, all based on public fear of the unknown and rumours about the reputations of people who augment their state of consciousness.

Earth People's Park wound up becoming the "property" of the "State" via plea bargaining

and forfeiture, teaching everyone to put Paradise above 'getting high' in importance.

Read about that and many other great, interesting and funny stories in this classic book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wavy's Personal Gravy Train......All Aboard!, December 29, 2011

This review is from: Something Good for a Change: Random Notes on Peace Thru Living (Hardcover)
Wavy Gravy is a breath of hope for humanity. In an era of discord and acrimony amongst Americans, Wavy Gravy is an activists voice of compassion for healing the broken spirit of a global nation with a smile, a kind word and the will to mobilize his big heart for the greater good, people in need. Wavy takes a smile and a heartfelt laugh the extra mile(s) in a life that has embodied the best of what is remembered mythically as a `hippie' philosophy. Wavy has written a wonderfully rambling memoir of vignettes of such a life. Mr. Gravy has written of a life filled with good and sad stories that are fortified by his unflinching spirit to expand his family of the cosmic chuckle and the caring heart.
