Book Description

April 26, 2005

Blackboard bestselling author Beverly Jenkins delivers another lush historical novel featuring brothers that were first introduced in her award-winning novel Always and Forever. This is the story that readers have been waiting for.

He was a wanted man.
But no one wanted him more than she did.

Desperate to escape an arranged marriage, Olivia Sterling flees Chicago and heads west. She dreams of setting up her own seamstress shop in Henry Adams, a small all Black town in Kansas. But her plans are derailed when her train is robbed by Neil July and his notorious band of outlaws.

Neil is enchanted by the headstrong and lovely Olivia. No woman has ever set his blood on fire before, and he suspects no other woman ever will. When they meet again, Olivia is the town's newly elected mayor and Neil is still the wanted outlaw. With bounty hunters on his trail, he would be wise not to linger, yet he can't seem to leave her. Will Neil be able to convince Olivia to ride off into the sunset with him? Or will he finally lay down his guns for love?

5.0 out of 5 stars BEVERLY JENKINS HAS DONE IT AGAIN!!!!, May 4, 2005
This review is from: Something Like Love (Mass Market Paperback)
I have been a fan of Ms. Jenkins for many years. I have read several of her books more than once and after having read "Something Life Love," I am about to go back and re-read "Always and Forever," "The Taming of Jessi Rose," and "Topaz." I was introduced to Ms. Jenkins at least 10 years ago through my best friend with "Night Song," and subsequently became a die-hard BJ fan. Although I don't yet own "Night Song," I'm putting in an order for it right now so that I can re-read it, too.

With "Something Like Love" she has once again created characters that one cannot help but love. Despite Neil July's unlawful profession, he is quite a man, and Olivia Sterling is the type of woman I would be proud to call my friend. Ms. Jenkins' stories never fail to make me laugh out loud, cry tears of joy and cheer loudly for the always superb ending. If you've never read any of her books, pick any one -- I guarantee you will not be disappointed. She is a dynamic story teller as well as an informative history teacher. Always rich with historical content, Ms. Jenkins will leave you satisified with the knowledge she has imparted about the history of "the race" as well as by the moving and always sensual romance shared by her heroes and heroines.

"Something Like Love" is a wonderful, exciting and heart-warming novel by the best darned historical romance writer I've ever had the pleasure of reading. I look forward to meeting her one day so I can tell her so in person.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Girl... Bad Boy... Great Story, May 2, 2005
This review is from: Something Like Love (Mass Market Paperback)
This is one of Mrs. Jenkins best work to date. I really enjoyed the Edge of Dawn, but I enjoyed this even more. The main characters intrigue you from the very beginning but I really fell in love with the supporting characters. The town of Henry Adams became very real to me and it was like I lived there. Any author that can do that is absolutely awesome.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great One!!, May 24, 2005

Why hasn't Oprah discovered this author? We have and again Ms Jenkins has not disappointed and done it again. She has shown that she can go from historical, young adult, contemporary and back to historicals. In Something Like Love she brought back characters we are all familiar with and put together a story that you hate to see end. I plan to read this book again while I sit on the porch waiting for a Neil July. Keep up the good work, Ms Lady.
