Book Description

August 1, 1998
What can we learn from looking at the world around us?According to King Solomon, quite a lot. Solomon was a man of faith who took his readers on a voyage through some of the backwater regions of life that we all think about but rarely discuss in public. He wasn't afraid to ask the hard questions or to admit when there were no easy answers. In Something New Under the Sun, Pastor Ray Pritchard walks readers through Ecclesiastes, a book written by King Solomon from an earthly perspective. Solomon examines those things available to us in this life and invites us on a search for ultimate truth. Pastor Pritchard adds poignant and revealing stories to the words of this great king of old to bring this book crashing into our reality as we approach the 21st century. In short, bite-sized devotionals, Ray Pritchard brings us face to face with such topics as:the meaning of lifethe reality of deaththe instability of powerthe futility of richesFor a generation desperately searching for reality - and not knowing where to find it - God wrote a book that sets our feet in the right direction. Join Ray Pritchard as he follows Solomon on his journey to truth through the book of Ecclesiastes.

This review is from: Something New Under the Sun: Ancient Wisdom for Contemporary Living (Hardcover)
having enjoyed ray's devotional Green Pastures, Quiet Waters: Refreshing Moments From the Psalms (Guidelines for Living) on the psalms, i picked up his other bookThe ABC's of Wisdom: Building Character with Solomon

and this one to round out his "wisdom" trilogy.

like the other two books this has 100 brief devotional readings that will inspire and uplift.

he starts with a topic heading and picks a verse from ecclesiastes. then come two pages of insight and devotion relating to the chosen

verse followed with a short prayer. after that comes "shining the light" which is a couple of questions to help think about and apply

what has just been read. finishing with "more light from god's word" where he adds additional verses from other books of the bible to

further bring out the wisdom and light from the holy scriptures.

the author states these books are for busy people and one can read a section "on the run", put it down and get back to it later or just take this book and read it as a daily meditation in the morning, or at lunch time at work or just before bed after a busy day.

this book will help you to better appreciate ecclesiastes and solomon's search for truth.

buy it, read it and enjoy!
