Book Description

Entrepreneur, Simone Edwards, did what any intelligent woman with a ticking biological clock would do: she asked her longtime boyfriend to marry her. Devastated when he turns her down, and fed up with dead-end relationships, Simone swears off men … and takes a vow of celibacy. How hard could it be? She soon learns it’s harder than she thinks when the most irresistible man in the world, Tim Hollister, shows up at her job. She hasn’t seen him in over ten years, and quickly realizes he is a temptation she doesn’t want to resist. But isn’t there some rule about dating your friend? Simone must decide if a romance with Tim is worth risking their friendship, and her reclaimed virginity.

Betrayed by his supermodel ex-girlfriend, who happens to be the mother of his child, Tim Hollister has placed a padlock on his heart. But when Simone, an old high school friend falls back into his life, he soon forgets his promise to stay clear of beautiful women. Simone was always like a sister to him, but he discovers that his feelings for her aren’t very brotherly. He’s captivated by the woman she’s become and wants to take their friendship to the next level - despite her resistance. Tim can’t avoid their new-found passion, and sets out to prove he’s the man for her.

This is a sweet romance.

This book is definitely a must read. A great example of what a true romance novel is all about. I love the different journeys the characters go through and how they triumph...together. I can't wait to read more from this author.

4.0 out of 5 stars "Something New" by Sharon Cooper May 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I'm not a regular reader of romance novels, but "Something New" by Sharon Cooper delivers much more than boy meets girl and they fall head over heels in love. Themes of forgiveness, faith, and family flow nicely throughout Tim and Simone's story and their chance meeting proved to be right on time. Despite both being on the rebound from failed relationships, they were able to help one another through personal trials. Naturally, a stronger bond formed between them, taking their childhood friendship to another level. I liked how the faith element of the story demonstrated how the couple were faced with temptation, but not overcome by it.

Mrs. Cooper's vivid writing put me in the scenes and mind of the characters. A twist of suspense compliments (instead of takes away) the story's sweetness, which kept me turning the pages to see if Simone and Tim's rekindled love would endure. Great debut novel and I look forward to reading more of Mrs. Cooper's books!

5.0 out of 5 stars Friends Do Make the Best Lovers August 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I agree with the other reviewers, this was a very sweet romance. This is another well written book with just the right amount of suspense to keep you from putting it down. Blue Roses is the sequel but I am hoping that the other characters will get their own story. This book keeps you wanting more because the characters appear real. Pick it up and read it and grab the sequel too you will not be disappoint!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read August 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is the frist book i have read by ms. cooper. I must say i enjoyed reading this book. It's hard to let go of the past sometimes. However, when you let it go, things can fall into place. All i can say, we all have to forgive what a person has done to us in the past in order to move on in live. Don't give them the power to control your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars A smart, sweet romance July 5, 2012
By Anna K.
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
The characters of Tim and Simone are refreshingly smart and mature, doing their best to be good people despite the hardships of dealing with their own shortcomings and the failings of their family members...especially Kenny, the hero's bullying brother and Simone's mean-spirited mother.

Lots of plot twists, a hot hero, family secrets, well-done inspirational themes, tender moments, and even a few flashes of humor (Kenny's run-in with a Sheneneh-esque character) make this a completely enjoyable sweet romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yawatta Hosby's review on "Something New" May 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I loved this 22 chapter novel. It was so sweet and romantic, and I got lost in the story-the fantasy of it all. Who wouldn't want an old friend to fall in love with them after reuniting? The author has a wonderful gift of painting a full picture with beautiful imagery, without it being purple prose or sounding corny. Besides the romance, I definitely enjoyed the drama of it all. It was so realistic the struggles the characters went through.

Simone and Tim's interactions sparked my interest the second they bumped into each other at the airport. That brief encounter meant something special, confusing them because they hadn't kept in touch after high school. And, when he helps her with her business, the way she tries to avoid him was funny. He wasn't having any of that lol.

The point-of-view switched from Simone to Tim's perspective (my favorite types of books to read). It helped the readers pinpoint the exact moment they fell for each other while the other was kept in the dark. Like readers are in on the little secret. The characters were Christians, so they were respectful and kind, yet not boring. My favorite characters were Simone, Tim, and Dallas. Dallas was a trip but in a fun way.

While embarking Simone's life journey, I could relate. It sort of felt like I was reading about my life magnified by ten-thousand. She wore ponytails, plain jane in school, got one tattoo, had rocky relationship with her mom. Poor Simone. Her mother was crazy, rude, and any other negative trait imaginable. Their conflict was interesting and realistic-I could see why Simone was fighting her faith on forgiving her. Her mom truly tried her patience and love.

I loved the conflict and tension; of course, there has to be unlikeable characters.
