5.0 out of 5 stars 23 year old female Britney fan!
I am so tired of people hatin' on Britney. No matter what she does, there is always someone complaining. Leave the girl alone! If you don't like it, don't listen to it people! Nobody is forcing you to listen to her. Anyway, this song is so AWESOME! She isn't trying to "rock out" like some people like to say. It is actually very pop and original at the same time...

1.0 out of 5 stars Ouch.
I have to admit most of Britney's songs are a little infectious, but this... this is something else. O_O; I guess she's trying to go for a new style, which I respect, but this experiment didn't turn out too well. This song sounds like some sort of cheap knock-off of Gwen Stefani's "What You Waiting For" - although that song is actually an easy on the ears, fun track. This...

Nobody is forcing you to listen to her. Anyway, this song is so AWESOME! She isn't trying to "rock out" like some people like to say. It is actually very pop and original at the same time. It is a typical Britney song, though, which makes it slightly monotonous. None the less, I love Britney and pretty much every song she puts out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Britney Does Somethin' Amazing!, October 11, 2005

Where do I start. First of, like Britney or hate her, she has pretty much dominated the music industry for the past Five years.

Now, we all know there are plenty of you out there who like to criticise Britney, whether for her outrageous acts, her seemingly unrestrained sexual exploits or whatever else you people like to throw, but you seem to fail to realise the women standing on the receiving end of your vicious swipes.

Britney is very young and has I would presume, had an amazing opportunity with such magnitude of fame so quickly; who are you to dare judge her or treat her as a focus for morals and values.
Yes, Britney may well be an icon to many other younger women, but is surely _NOT_ her job to teach or provide an appropriate role model; are you an appropriate role model in your actions?

Britney is a young women who has had an amazing opportunity. Nobody, repeat nobody forces you to listen to her music or accept what she stands for. If you don't appreciate, like or accept the image or connotations of her then that is your own business, it does not give you the right to criticise her and it certainly does not give you the right to have expectations of her!

You people criticise her because of her music. It's either too Pop, or it's too much trying to be Hip/Hop or whatever else, but this is the music industry. Britney is there first and foremost to earn a living. Yes, Britney may be considered a Pop artist, that doesn't mean she is unable or not entitled to use influences of other music genres in her music. So damn what if 'Do Somethin' may be considered a little 'Rock'; it sounds brilliant.

I've heard people say 'this song is dumb', well Can't Get You Out of My Head may be considered dumb but that was an instant hit. Christmas carols may be considered dumb but we still sing them. This is not a question of the song being 'dumb'.

The very fact we're all sat here discussing Britney only goes to reinforce the massive impact she has had on our society. You say you dislike her, if that's so you wouldn't waste your time writing up posts about her, only to inform us you 'didn't like her song'.

Britney, to some people, will never be able to do right from wrong. Whatever direction she goes in she will be under the pointless criticism of people like _you_. Well, somehow I think with Britney's birth, husband and bank balance, I don't think she is loosing too much sleep over your comments.

Yes, Britney is mass marketted and that can be a little tedious, but Britney would not be there if Y-O-U people out there did not buy her albums.

Britney is the star that she is in today's society and the reason is because Y-O-U allow her to be that star.

As for me? I think it's wonderful for Britney and I congratulate her on all her success. I wish the very best in the future; for her marriage and her new born child.

Good luck Britney, and when you return to the studio, ensure to give the world that classic blend of Pop-meets-Rock-meets-R'N'B that we all love and enjoy (even if some people are a little shy to say!)

AARON X

5.0 out of 5 stars Other than the edited remix, this is a slammin club track, October 28, 2005

The fact that this is a britney spears track is irrelevant if you love dance music. Simply put, it is HOT.

It's really unfortunate that they had to give us the edit of the DJ Monk mix. Even so, while that mix is good, it is the Thick Vocal mix that is going to blow your mind. A throbbing, driving electro dance vibe, this is one that would have your body freaking out on the dancefloor. Plus, you get the added bonus of the previously hard to get Valentin mix of Everytime as a bonus.

I wasn't really a fan of bubble gum pop songs like baby one more time or oops i did it again. the songs of britney that really dragged me to her were Slave 4 You, Toxic, Everytime, Me Against the music, and outrageous. This one however, is a well blend of both pop and hip-hop. Some parts of this song can get to you, but this is definitely a great song. I would not give it a five but a 4.3.....

4.0 out of 5 stars Do Somethin' CD Single, May 18, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Do Something Pt.1 / Everytime (Audio CD)
Do Somethin' is the second single released from her first Greatest Hits album. Britney apparantley really liked this song. It wasn't intended to be released as a single, but Britney herself released it, and even co-directed the music video. Produced by Bloodshy & Avant, this song is heavy on synths, typical B&A production. Britney sounds alive in this song about going out and being crazy, despite people watching. Unfortunately, this song was only released as an international single, so it didn't recieve much success. But overseas it was very successful, doing very well in the charts.

1. Do Somethin' (Album Version) 4/5 - Like I said, uses a lot of synths, set on a heavy bass line. It's a really good, funky dance song.

2. Do Somethin' (DJ Monk Radio Edit) 3/5 - A little slower than the album version. It uses some cool whirling synths here and there. It's kind of like a different version of the song.

3. Do Somethin' (Thick Vocal Mix) 4/5 - A pretty long remix. This is just Britney's vocals on the track though, and surprisingly, she sounds really good. The remix is upbeat and much like the album version.

4. Everytime (Valentin Remix) 5/5 - A really random remix to appear on this single, but good none-the-less. Instead of the slow ballad that the original is, this remix speeds it up and uses a lot of synths. It's like a completely different version of the song.

Overall, I like this single. It's one of the last one's that Britney would release before the inevitable break down. I like it personally because of Britney's involvment on it. She released it as a single and co-directed the music video. An intersting note is that she was sued because the truck she is driving in the music video has a Louis Vuitton logo clearly displayed on the dashboard.

Overall rating - 3/5

Do Somethin' is honestly the best song i have EVER heard!! It just sounds amazing! you can't really call it rock, pop, hip hop......to me it's unclassifyable! what a great combination of sounds were made to create this amzing masterpiece!! people say her voice isn't great, but i think it's perfect the way it is and i love how she uses it, especially in this song. it's definitely catchy even for people to claim they HATE britney spears!! the video isn't great, but the song is just...WOW!! i can't stop hearing it. britney definitely did it again!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Review This Singer Needs, March 23, 2005
This review is from: Do Something Pt.1 / Everytime (Audio CD)
OK.. I don't get it. If u don't like Britney why keep talking bout her or listen to her? It makes no sense. No one is putting a gun to your head saying listen to her or I'll shoot you.
Britney does not have a high vocal range. DUH we know that. Thats why she makes dance songs for us to listen to. Her music is about dance not singing if you haven't noticed. Her greatest hits tanked. DUH its very rare that a greatest hits album sells.
Her album sales have slipped. DUH cuz she hasn't come up with that great songs to make everyone want to buy her albums.

Anyway I like the beat of this song. The video was cheap cuz her label didn't even want to make a video for this song. But Britney begged so they gave her little money. Better than nothing. I hope she comes up with a good 5th album so she can sell like she used to.
