5.0 out of 5 stars SFR! SFR!, August 17, 2005
This review is from: Something for Rockets (Audio CD)
I saw these guys in Seattle play with USE and now I see them everytime they're in town and it's always a good time. A buddy of mine gave me the album and it was an instant hit with my stereo - it wouldn't let me take it off. I have Everybody Loves A Lot on my computer at work and I honestly don't think I could get tired of it. It's one of those laid back songs that builds up to an amazing finish. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars All OK!, June 11, 2005

This review is from: Something for Rockets (Audio CD)
Heard these guys on the Ethel channel on my XM. Decided to check them out. Surprised to see no review yet from others out there. Kind of nice finding a great album that not to many people are familiar with. Something For Rockets is a mixture The Killers, The Stills, The Doves, with Postal Service type beats. Worth checking out. Check out these tracks first; All Ok, Red in the Face & Dancefloor.

3.0 out of 5 stars Please enter a title for your review, May 23, 2006

I listened to this because Mark Hoppus talks about them on his podcast. Like buddyhead the dude has a great sense of humour but kinda indiscriminate taste in music. What struck me immediately is how much the vocals sound like Depeche Mode, and more new DP than old DP. The music generally seems unambitious and not even very contemporary. It reminds me more than anything of a more understated version of INXS and to a lesser extent U2, exhibiting a similarly faceless blend of pop and rock that brings it's pop leanings to the forefront but never really achieves any distinct or memorable hooks or melodies. I guess the fact that they're on 33rd Street Records, a label that generally releases hopelessly outdated conservative unhip music, and boasts a website that looks like it was designed by an 8 year old down's syndrome sufferer, seems apt.
