5.0 out of 5 stars If I could give it 10 stars, I would
Wow, what a performance by such a young man! For an independent artist, this is a FABULOUS first effort! I must say, I'm rather enjoying indie artists over major ones.
There is a lot of unexplored talent out there, and Joey Pearson is one. But I do see him making a name for himself one day. With a voice like his, he could sing in any genre of music. The child has...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Kid - Not So Great Songs
Hey, What can I say, but that Joey can sing! A Friend bought me the CD and I personally would have never bought it myself. I think if he would have had someone else write and produce his music the CD would have been better. Vocally Joey will get better with age, perhaps after his voice change. I shaw him on Star Search and was impressed with his movement on stage, but...

The child has talent. He loves to sing, and you can hear it. And I love to hear him sing, and I find myself playing his CD daily.

I've told my friends about Joey and had them listen, and they just can't believe he's only ten! He has a lot to look forward to in the music biz. His Candle Light The Way is like One Voice to Billy Gilman. It's the song that could very well take him to the top.

And Younger Generation, what another great song, He and Logan O'Brien sing beautifully together on this one. It's a great song for the younger generation, no pun intended.

Don't Give Up, another fabulous song. I look forward to his feature albums.

Joey is the type of singer Luciano Pavoratti would be proud of.

If you think a major artist is where it's at, then you haven't heard Joey Pearson.

I highly recommend this Cd for anyone who enjoys a truly remarkable voice.

Thank you Joey Pearson for releasing such an angelic voice to share with the world.

Angel

5.0 out of 5 stars This kid's gonna be big!, July 25, 2002

This review is from: Something To Say (Audio CD)
Though not very known yet, I had the awesome pleasure of seeing Joey at the House Of Blues in L.A. and at Universal Studios and AGAIN at the Young Actors Awards in Hollywood! I had my picture taken with Joey and with Frankie Muniz at the Universal Walk in Universal Studios. I was so completely blown away by his voice! This kid had the audience on it's feet halfway through the first song.

I had the chance to get an early copy of this album and immediately fell in love with it! My favorite songs on it are "Younger Generation" a duet he does with Logan O'Brien (General Hospital, That Was Then on ABC). It's such an inspirational song that talks about how even smaller kids have something to say about current events. I also LOVE "Candle Light The Way", "I Know What Love Is" and "I'll Be Your Friend". The first cut, "You're Worth The Time" is a really cool upbeat pop song.

Joey is only 10 and it's hard to believe a kid of that stature can have such a powerful voice. I'm a HUGE fan of Billy Gilman and Joey Pearson is a wonderful addition to the younger generation of vocalists! LOOK OUT WORLD! You'll definitely be seeing more of this boy! THANK YOU, JOEY!

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid debut, July 15, 2004
This review is from: Something To Say (Audio CD)
Joey Pearson does indeed have "Something to Say" - and it's "Hello, world!" Listening to his debut CD, I hear echoes of the Beatles (but better here than they were at this stage), James Brown, Little Stevie Wonder, and maybe a little Average White Band. Joey doesn't sound like the aforementioned artists, he just shares their intensity. I love all ten songs on the CD and will never skip even one, although I do occasionally put them on "random".

I'm excited to see what Joey will offer as his career develops. If he stays the course shown here, he's going to be quite a talent to reckon with. I can see Grammys, Oscars, and duets with Aaron Carter in his bright, bright future. I'm ready for the next album!

4.0 out of 5 stars Joey has gotten Better, December 2, 2003

Hey, I've read some reviews here, and I both agree and disagree with them. I'd like to point out that Joey has gotten a lot better since this album. This album was put out in a rush, and I agree the engineering was not top notch. It was done by his father, but if you go to www.joeypearson.com and buy his new CD, Novel, you will see a huge different. Not only has Joey's voice improved, but the tracks are awesome, and very well done. Four of them were done in studio, and the other four recorded at home, and I'm quite sure that you won't be able to distinguish them. I recommend everyone buy the new CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME CD by a VERY talented young man!, August 10, 2002
This review is from: Something To Say (Audio CD)
Joey has AMAZING talent and he's only 10! He has a voice and ability to read a song that would make adults proud! He has a fantastic lower register and beautiful vibrato in his voice! This CD has a couple uptempo songs and some very moving ballads, Joey's specialty. Favorites are the ballad "I Know What Love Is", the patriotic "Candle Light The Way", and the soulful "I'll Be Your Friend", all of which allow Joey to showcase his powerful voice most effectively! Joey's definately going places!

3.0 out of 5 stars can carry a tune..., July 27, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Something To Say (Audio CD)
Joey is definitely much better than the average kid his age (and, well, let's face it--he's better than a lot of grownups, as well); but I still think he has a ways to go. He uses wayyyyy too much vibrato when singing, for instance; some vibrato is good, but not when it starts to stick out and grate on the listener. The songs were also a bit too simplistic musically speaking for my taste, although one or two had a great message (Younger Generation)--although I don't want to seem to be advocating ageism, I strongly believe that the simplicity in his music has a lot to do with his young age. The music was also rough, which I can understand as I believe this is akin to an indie CD.

In any case, Joey obviously has potential and I bet he'll make it far, but probably not until he has a few more years under his belt and some musical training. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!, May 15, 2003
This review is from: Something To Say (Audio CD)
Hi Saw Joey on Star Search! Wow, I was impressed! So, I ordered his CD. Eevn tho I haven't heard his CD yet, I'm giving 5 stars! His voice is fantastic! And I know when I listen to his CD, I'll love it! I'm a new fan!
Joey, like Zappa said, you're gonna be a Super Star! Donny Osmond was right, you do have a very soulful voice. You we're well received by all the judges both nights you performed on Star Search. You sang on pitch as Naomi said, and you sang from the heart with such emotion. You were very impressive!
I'll add more to my review once I get Joey's CD. Can't wait!
Look forward to your future CD's too!
I'm so glad I found you! And a big thanks to Star Search for finding such awesome talent!
Angie :)

3.0 out of 5 stars Great first effort..., September 13, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Something To Say (Audio CD)
This is a great CD with some great songs. Joey has a great voice, but I sincerely think some technical improvement would help here.

1. This might be my personal taste, but despite Joey's awesome voice I think he uses way too much vibrato at innapropriate places. (Is this country or Opera? Heavy vibrato almost >all< the time wears thin after about 2 tracks.)

2. The choices for vocal reverbs on this album are terrible. He sounds like he's singing out of a shoebox half the time (ugh!)

3. You guys ever hear of AutoTune? Some pitch correction would definately help in a couple of places.

I gave the album 3 stars because I think the material is great and Joey is obviously extremely talented! However, I think my expectations were for a slightly more proffesional sound. This album needed either more work in post production, or a better engineer. So 5 out of 5 for style, 3 out of 5 for overall sound.
