Book Description

October 28, 2009
Pepperville is a quaint, sleepy town where nothing ever seems to change... but that's probably because no one ever leaves. In fact, an outsider would probably think that everyone in Pepperville is just a little bit eccentric--from the policeman on his bicycle to the postal worker who will only deliver mail at night. Jenna Thompson has lived all of her 19 years in a cottage behind the Ashton Mansion. Like everyone else in Pepperville, Jenna's entire day is predictable--from what she will buy at the store to the footwear she will use to walk there. Then one day during a routine trip to the Shoppe & Walke, Jenna is horrified to discover that a vagrant has taken up residence in the biggest tree in town. No one knows why he is there, but the citizens of Pepperville do their best to make the glum young man as comfortable and welcome as possible. Everyone, that is, except for Jenna, who is determined to rid her town of this strange and silent squatter. Little does she know that her schemes will set off a series of events that will change Pepperville forever. "The slightest change in one's life can begin a spiral of transformation. THE SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED IN PEPPERVILLE is the story of Jenna Thompson and the tree-dwelling vagrant who enters her own life. Determined to rid her town of the man whom everyone else welcomes, Jenna soon finds there's more to this unusual gentleman than she truly knows. An entertaining novel of small town life." - James A. Cox, Editor in Chief, The Midwest Book Review

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Read, October 28, 2009
This review is from: The Something that Happened in Pepperville (Paperback)
I've lived in several small towns and this book brought back some great memories. Every place has that quirky character. That person that makes you laugh on the inside. That person that you will always remember and tell stories about when you move on. The Something that Happened in Pepperville really captures small town life - it's people, it's business, it's ambiance. It's a fun read even if you've only experienced big city living.

Life in a small town isolated from the rest of the real world. That's what we get to know thanks to Ms Keder's skillful writing and quirky sense of humor. The characters are well developed, the plot moves right along and the twist at the end is a surprise. It's a great quick read!
