All you need to do is read the biography for this band to understand why they're so awesome. I'll do my best to summarize: They're French, and while attending music school and being classically trained, they would go out on the weekend to legendary French clubs and dance to the beats of bands like Daft Punk. Combine those two musical disciplines together and you get Something A La Mode.

The album starts out with a series of dancefloor hits(Rondo, G String, 5 AM), and segways into a few more laid-back-but-still-catchy tunes(Tracey's Interlude, Easy Loving) peppering in some uniquely awesome tracks (Romance in B Minor, Vodka Martini). Every songs displays SALM's unique flavor of layering violin and chello over electronic beats and synthlines.

This is a meeting of styles that is long overdue and wonderfully done. Stop reading and buy, you won't be disappointed.

Bought this for Gstring and Dies Irae.
Dies Irae is a super cool moody tune. Gstring is an epic glitch hop style tune.
The rest however, were pretty sleepy and unremarkable. Not that the songs are bad, they are just not to my taste like Gstring and Dies Irae are.
If you are looking for an album full of Gstring style tunes, you are going to be disappointed. If the slower, mellow music is your thing, this one might be for you.

This is an excellent album for anyone looking for sweet synth beats mixed with amazing performances on both the violin and cello. GString is a great song, and Tracey's Interlude is a personal favorite of mine. If you are a fan of Daft Punk, Glitch Mob, or Lindsay Sterling you'll love this group!
