This is a terrific book. Thought since it was all short stories I could read a little at a time but ended up zooming through it, totally hooked after the first story. Now I wish I had more. I don't know anyone who wouldn't be able to relate to the stories. All a little different.

Six individual stories each with their own inpirational message. The stories are ones we can all realte to on some level. They are so well written that they warm your heart, tug at your heart strings, bring a tear to your eyes and make you smile. They leave you with every emotion touched and lots to think about. Enjoyed them and recommend them to everyone, whether a dog fancier or not.

I have been following Lisa Begin-Kruysman's blog journey "National Dog Week", always finding her posts to be heartfelt and unpretentious. Based on the over one-hundred blogs, Lisa has created fictionalized short stories with a title inspired by St. Anthony, patron saint of lost travelers. I was immediately drawn in by the photo on the cover. The beach scene with the pair of dogs waiting for us, leading us towards the light at the end of the watery path in the center, speaks volumes!

An engaging writer, who writes about what she loves and knows well, Lisa ups the anty here in her poetic and symbolic use of language. Centered around the experience of finding oneself at a loss as we live our lives, these six "tails" explore meaning and insight that can be gleaned from sharing the company of our loyal canine friends.
This is a lovely, cozy and light read. Lisa has turned her experience and passion of a life lived around dogs, into sweet comforting pieces.
I look forward to this being the first in a series!

Something's Lost and Must Be Found is an entertaining, amusing and satisfying foray into the world of dogs and the people who love them, sometimes despite themselves.

Begin-Kruysman writes in an engaging, easy-to-read style about several special canines who bring joy, love, hope and happiness to those who cross their paths. The stories are each different, but united by a common theme of "something lost". In some cases it may be a human quality, in others it may literally be a physical thing lost but each story varies from the others and each is uniquely entertaining.

The collection of stories was written in honor of National Dog Week, which begins on September 17th. It is worth noting that each story highlights the importance of dogs in our lives and many highlight the importance of animal adoption and rescue.

If you are an animal person who can give a dog a home now is the perfect time to consider getting one if you are able. Do some research on the web, find out which breed would be best matched to your requirements, (e.g., size of the breed, size of your yard, energy level of the dog, type of recreation you like to participate in) and please remember that puppies aren't the only dogs who need homes, a lot of really loving older dogs are seeking their "forever home" too and are just waiting the opportunity to be adopted. For many of these older dogs the proverbial clock is ticking rapidly. Please consider giving them a home.

If you are a dog-lover you will greatly enjoy Lisa Begin-Kruysman's collection of short stories, if you are just a lover of a good short story you will also enjoy these tales. I enjoyed Something's Lost and Must Be Found" and I think you will too.

Dog lovers and non-dog lovers (yes, there is such a thing, shocking as it is) alike will find pleasure in reading these wonderful and relatable stories. My only criticism is that I wanted more. Next volume please!

Take a few minutes out of your busy stressful day to relax and become inspired by these charming and meaningful stories. I read one at lunch everyday for the last week and felt my heart open up, like the character in "Something's Lost and Must be Found." Even non animal lovers will be moved by the impact of having a dog in your life and how it can help you in so many ways - bringing you closer to friends, family and even stangers. I am looking forward to more stories from this author.

Six inspiring and touching short stories woven together with the thread of fundamental love for dogs. The stories stretched my heart and touched my soul and make me all the more thankful that my Portuguese Water Dog, Penelope, adopted me. Looking forward to more writings from the author, Lisa Begin-Kruysman. She has a way with words that captures meaning that floods you, washing away all the clutter in your life, so you can experience the simple truth of the messages in her stories - that of love and devotion to your best dog friend and how that relationship transcends its existence to show you the way that love can manifest in all your relationships with others and the life around you.

Something's Lost and Must be Found, prayer to St. Anthony
Many many times. My wife is a great supporter of St Anthony, and has helped strangers and family members to learn of his kindness. Not only in lost items, but also in finding lost hope, and yes, even finding a miracle happen. I also trust his powers in answering prayers. My wife and I have... Read More
