A true classic.,

This 1984 release was D Train's final album for Prelude Records. The title track became a huge hit and remains one of the most easily recognizable R&B hits of its time. Whereas its two predecessors (1982's "You're The One For Me" and 1983's "Music") were primarily filled with heavy-hitting Electro-Funk tracks, this album had more ballads and mid-tempo groovers. D Train was one of the 1980s best male R&B vocalists and this was one of his finest albums.

Beware! Unidisc sells bootleg CDRs not CDs!,

I love all of D-Train's albums, but I can only give this CD one star due to the fact that D-Train's own label, UNIDISC, insists on trying pass of homemade CD-Rs as the real thing. When I buy a full price CD at retail, I expect a professionally made SILVER CD with glossy inserts, NOT what I received here: a BLUE CD-R and a tacky, cheap, homemade XEROXED insert package! Why does Unidisc try to pull a fast one on the true fans and sell CDRs as the real thing? It's misleading, dishonest, and just plain CHEAP! BEWARE! DON'T GET RIPPED OFF LIKE ME! BTW, I still think all of D-Train's albums are amazing with rich, soaring male soul vocals from JAMES WILLIAMS.

Excellent Mid-80's R&B!!,

I bought this CD just for the track "You're the Reason", that I heard on the radio one evening. It turned out that I liked the entire CD. I was more familiar with James "D Train" Williams' up tempo dance/funk music and had never thought of him as an accomplished ballad/mid-tempo singer with a deep rich powerful voice. Regrettably, his considerable vocal gifts were often obscured by the loud, heavy funk instuments on his other albums.
The reviewer who complained of getting a bootleg CD-R shouldn't have blamed the the record company (Unidisc). He obviously was the victim of an unscrupulous seller who was/is engaging in the practice of selling bootleg CD-R's. The CD I received from J&R Music World was a professionally manufactured CD with a silkscreened label and glossy full color inserts. The CD's clear plastic jewel case was also enclosed in a full color cardboard outer sleeve. This is a thoughtful touch that prevents the plastic case from getting scratched The audio production quality was excellent. The sound of the vocals and instruments was deep, rich, clear and detailed.

For those of you who remember d-train, this boy was bad. I listen to this all the time. Would recommend. Like old music, this stuff they have today, doesn't come close to what was being played in the 80's, in MY OPINION.

A very regrettable choice. The title, "Something's On Your Mind" says it all. And those three versions of that song are the only ones I found worth listening to on the entire CD. My mistake.

I loved D-Train from back in the day...and every now and then when I'm listening to Pandora.com, a song that I heard long ago will come on and bring me back to a place where I once was. D-Train reminds me of our family road trips down to New Orleans to visit our family that lives down there, and being on the road passing through New York to DC through the Carolinas onto New Orleans, you get to hear some great music on Black radio. So I just had to have this album added to my CD collection. Bring back the good music please, is what I've been screaming. Music like D-Train is just some good old music.
