5.0 out of 5 stars STEP OUT ON FAITH
Linda, this is a refresing story. I would like to say thank you for writing a wonderful novel. This novel deals with real issues that we as women and men face each and every day. Alot of times we say, why me? We go through things to test our faith and to make us stronger . I just love the Lord and can say that I have made some bad decisions In my life as well but the...

1.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Story, Poor Storytelling
I was truly amazed to see so many positive reviews for this book. I thought the author had a very interesting story with some serious issues involved, but the manner in which she told the story was terrible. The story just didn't flow. She didn't tell the story in a way that made you care anything about any of the characters, there was no emotion conveyed in her...

Linda, this is a refresing story. I would like to say thank you for writing a wonderful novel. This novel deals with real issues that we as women and men face each and every day. Alot of times we say, why me? We go through things to test our faith and to make us stronger . I just love the Lord and can say that I have made some bad decisions In my life as well but the Lord I serve is a forgiving God and with that In mind I can say I'm truly BLESSED. This novel shows how people say, she/he is a Christian why are they acting that way or doing that? We all make mistakes. Who are we to judge? I could go on and on but I just want to say to everyone out in readers land go out and buy this book yourself. Don't borrow it from anyone because you need your own copy to read over and over. Linda, your are awesome. Please continue to allow the light of the Lord to shine through you. Be Blessed. ***Another good read*** Temptations by Victoria Christopher Murray.

4.0 out of 5 stars This novel portrayed a sensitive topic in a profound manner., September 23, 1999

Having an affair with a married man is a situation many women, unfortunately find themselves involved in. Ms. Grosvenor took this topic and with much love and care, told a story that a lot of women wish would come true. I enjoyed reading this book and was very surprised by the ending. I liked how God played an important role in the main character's decisions. I have recommended this book to many people to show them that love, with God's help, will work out if it is meant to be.

I was truly amazed to see so many positive reviews for this book. I thought the author had a very interesting story with some serious issues involved, but the manner in which she told the story was terrible. The story just didn't flow. She didn't tell the story in a way that made you care anything about any of the characters, there was no emotion conveyed in her writing. The dialogue was EXTREMELY difficult to follow. And the highlighting of brand names - what was that for? Did they pay her to do it? And I didn't like the intermingling of Christianity with adultery, and basically saying it's okay with the character's happy ending. Things rarely, if ever, work out that way in adulterous relationships, and God doesn't condone it, no matter how you try to sugarcoat it. All my friends loved the book, we passed it around at work. I'm just glad I didn't pay money for it, it was one of the worst books I've ever read. I think Grosvenor has some interesting stories to tell, I just hope her storytelling gets better with her next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars An "E" for effort!, February 1, 2000

This review is from: Sometimes I Cry (Mass Market Paperback)
I'm not saying that it's "the best" but I've seen worse. The storytelling wasn't exceptional but it got the point across. A married friend thought the book was horrible (wonder why). The materialistic nature of the character made it so believable, I had to wonder if I was more like Leah than I wanted to admit. I also don't think that adultery is okay, but facing facts that it does happen and that people get caught up is a start. Can't wait for Grovesnor's next book.

I also recommend The Ties That Bind by Monique Gilmore Scott

3.0 out of 5 stars The other side, June 9, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Sometimes I Cry (Mass Market Paperback)
When I read this book I was looking for the reasons why some women get involved with a married man. I was also trying to understand why anyone would willingly try to break up a marriage. I realize we are not all saved. Some of the things we thought we would never do, we end up doing. I am pleased things worked out for the main character in the end. Nine times out of ten, in real life the man does not leave his wife. For that is how god intended for it to be. We have to be mindfull that the enemy is out to destroy families, not keep families together. I understand the author is trying to help heal those who have been in this situation. I wonder if any of these women stop to think about the effect an extra maritial affair has on the mans wife and children. This book proved to me we need to continually stay in prayer and always look to god, so we may be in his perfect will.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good first try!, July 21, 2000
This review is from: Sometimes I Cry (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was a pretty easy read and I really did enjoy it. However I think the way it ended was a bit unrealistic and it almost seemed like the affair was condoned. Overall it was still good and I liked the way the author incorporated religion into the book and showed how Lea in the end put everything in god's hands. It truly was a fairytale ending but there was still a message in it that we can all get something from.

3.0 out of 5 stars Thoughts, April 17, 2000
This review is from: Sometimes I Cry (Mass Market Paperback)
I think Linda's first novel was OK, hopefully the second will be better. Dealing with married MEN the circumstances are always different but the situation is always the same, no matter how you look at it. THEY WILL NEVER LEAVE THEIR WIFES AND THEY CAN NOT BE TRUSTED!

5.0 out of 5 stars Honest and Refreshing, June 11, 1999
This review is from: Sometimes I Cry (Mass Market Paperback)
When I was first asked to read this book I read the synopses on the back and I thought this is going to be a rollercoaster ride. Once I began the book I watched Aliyah experience both maturity in her day to day living as well as maturity in her relationship with God.

If I were put in the situation that she was in with her best friend getting involved with the guy she had hopes to marry I'm sure I wouldn't have responded the way she did. I respected how she began right there with her growth. I felt that the author showed how human the character was by having her become involved with a married man. As much as some women say it would never happen this showed how easily it can happen.

This is a wonderful effort on the author's part especially for a first effort. This is the 3rd such book that I've read that has had the underlying theme of having a relationship with God and I'm finding that I'm liking it more and more. Keep up the good work and keep it coming....

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous!!!!!!, May 17, 1999

This review is from: Sometimes I Cry (Mass Market Paperback)
Thank you for writing this fabulous 1st novel. I didn't expected to read "my" story in the portrait of several characters. How did you know? No matter your level of growth in God, the fact still remains that issues of infidelity, domestic abuse, depression, etc., must be dealt with. Many can benefit from "Somtimes I Cry"'s healing, deliverance and restoration properties, that I recommended it to others (they loved it also; WOW). I would even recommend book clubs to choose this as a pic-of-the-month (are you reading this Oprah). You captured my attention from page 1 and kept it until the end. Sister, continue to let the Lord use you in this gift.

~Signed~ Eagerly awaiting next effort
