I'm very happy with Gene,

At last the Cd version of one of Gene McDaniels best albums: SOmetimes I'm happy.....The orchestrations are wonderful (Gerald Wilson f.i.) I like Green Door, In a Sentimental Mood.
But why combine with the Hit after Hit album? There's a much better Spanish Lace or the Wonderful world of ...album. It seems to be impossible to left out 110 Pounds of Clay. And Surprise, Surprise!. There are 31 songs on the CD. The Inlay mentioned only 30 songs!

This is a terrific CD for those of us who remember Gene McDaniels back in the 60's. It combines two albums into one.
Hit After Hit features his Liberty releases "Tower of Strength," "Chip Chip," "Point of No Return," and his biggest hit, which can still be heard on some oldies stations today, "A Hundred Pounds of Clay." The big band-jazz album, Sometimes I'm Happy is a bonus. Great singer, great orchestra, great songs. I thoroughly enjoyed this CD and thought it was a bargain price.
