Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 3-6 In the first part of the book, the authors address parents and other concerned adults about the nature and prevalence of child sexual abuse and about how to provide an environment of open communication that has proven effective in protecting children. The second, longer, part consists of brief stories about children who have encountered potentially abusive adults and communicated with parents to get the help that they need. The stories are simply incidents to discuss, totally devoid of characterization and imaginative writing. All are intended for reading by parent and child together, as each story ends with the question ``What would you do?'' Black-and-white cartoon-style illustrations are abundant in both sections. This is a book with a purpose, but not much else. Elise Wendel, Orchard Road School, Skillman, N.J.
