This book is a precious story with beautiful pictures. Each page is delightful and very amusing! An absolutely wonderful Thanksgiving story with a twist. I first read it to my children 12 years ago and have searched for a copy for our home for a long time. I have never found it in a bookstore and am thrilled to find it here.

The collaborative effort of Lorna and Lecia Balian, Sometimes It's Turkey, Sometimes It's Feathers is a wonderfully charming holiday picture book about an old woman with a cat who finds a turkey egg. She hatches and raises the turkey, and anticipates a tasty Thanksgiving dinner with it - yet when the season rolls around she finds it far more enjoyable to share the holiday with her new avian friend than to eat him! "He'll be much bigger - and much plumper - next Thanksgiving!" she says to herself, in this sprightly illustrated and enthusiastically recommended tale.

As a first grade teacher, I used this book to read to my class. It has always been one of my favorites and I have a signed copy by Lorna Balian. Now that I am retired, I read it to classes in the school library. Thus I purchased two copies to donate to them. The new soft cover has much better pictures for group reading than my hardcover copy.

This is a wonderful book about a turkey coming to "Thanksgiving dinner". A great book for elementary children and teachers. A must read to students during Thanksgiving.

Mrs.Gumm is so real! We love this book! Our family loves animals. We have dogs, cats, bunnies,guinea pigs AND chickens. Grandchildren grow up playing with chicks, collecting eggs and carrying hens around in their arms. They all talk to the animals and can identify with everything that happens in this book. Such a friendly looking grandma...Such neat illustrations and such a moving story! We all enjoy it from start to finish. We're so glad Mrs. Gumm had another guest at her table!
