Book Description

Cage York has to choose between a love of the game and a love of the girl in this sultry Sea Breeze novel from New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines.

Cage York finally has everything he ever wanted.

And Eva is at the very top of that list—the perfect girl with a temper as hot as her fabulously flawless body. But for Cage, a baseball scholarship has always been a close second. So when Cage finally gets his chance, he and Eva must endure a long distance relationship—and all the dangerous temptations that come with it. Temptations that former ad boy Cage York may not be able to escape.

Then after receiving some illicit photos that show Cage has been behaving badly—very badly—Eva finds solace in the comforting arms of her insanely attractive neighbor Jeremy, who vows that he will take care of Eva in ways Cage never could. It’s an offer that may be too good for Eva to turn down.

Torn between his baseball dream and the girl of this dreams, Cage must prove he’s worthy of Eva’s love, or risk losing her to Jeremy forever.

Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Gr 10 Up—Eva Brooks and Cage York are living together in Sea Breeze, Alabama, when Cage finds out he's been awarded a baseball scholarship. The catch? The scholarship is to Hill State in Tennessee. A future in baseball is Cage's dream come true, but shortly before the two leave Sea Breeze, Eva finds out her father is sick and may not have long to live. Together they decide it's best for Cage to go ahead to Tennessee. The two struggle to maintain their long distance relationship, but when Cage's roommate puts him in some awkward situations and sends Eva deceptive texts and videos, their love is soon on the rocks. She turns to her handsome neighbor for comfort, but Cage hopes to win her back. Fans of the series and of the author's previous books won't be disappointed with this melodramatic and standalone novel entry. "Make no mistake. There will always be an us. You can pretend like what we had never happened. You can ignore your feelings. Hell, baby, you can even marry Jeremy ***ing Beasley. But there will always be an us. No one and nothing can change that."

There are sequels and then there are PERFECT sequels, and this is as perfect as a continuation of a favourite story can get. In While It Lasts, we fell in love with Cage York, a bad boy sent to work on a farm during summer because of a DUI, who met his match in one fierce and no-nonsense farmer's daughter named Eva Brooks. We watched them flirt, fight their attraction, and eventually succumb to love. While at the end of that book we had left them in a good place, in this sequel, we watch them fight for that happy ending, through heartache and tragedy, but making it one heck of a roller-coaster ride that you won't want to pause for one single second. Cage York is my new obsession and after you read this book, you'll know why.

"No one else for me ever. You're it. You're my always."

The story takes off where the first book ended, Cage and Eva are blissfully happy together and faced with their first big decision as a couple - whether to move interstate to attend a college that would offer Cage a full-ride scholarship and an opportunity to play college baseball, putting him one step closer to his dream of playing professionally. But smooth sailing quickly turns into choppy waters as Eva's whole world comes crushing down when faced with her father's sudden illness. Forced to stay back and look after her dad and the farm, Eva lets Cage go to college on his own, reluctantly but selflessly, knowing that holding him back would only take his dreams away.

"You gotta let that boy go, baby girl.

2.0 out of 5 stars Why spoil your own book in the prologue? August 29, 2013
By Marie
Format:Kindle Edition
The prologue of "Sometimes it lasts" tells us 1) Eva's father dies 2) Eva and Cage break up - and stay broken up for several months 3) Eva is pregnant 4) Jeremy proposes to Eva.

This reads as the CliffsNotes of the first 14 of a total of 24 chapters... I accept that very few read romances for the suspense, but I still found it annoying to have so much of the story given away from the beginning just as it detracted from my enjoyment of the first chapters while Eva and Cage were still together, since I knew we were closing in on "disaster"... and a chapter of Eva's: "I wonder what's wrong with my father? - and what are all these bald people doing here?" is just absurd when one knows his funeral is coming up.

So then there were 10 chapters and an epilogue (which ironically gave much less away than the prologue) left to enjoy: I guess they were all right apart from an uncomfortable masturbation scene and the absence of any real discussion of how they would organize their life going forward (unless you consider a "the world well lost" for love-back and forth a great plan for the future)

4.0 out of 5 stars Over Priced August 27, 2013
By Jess
Format:Kindle Edition
Another good story from Abbi. Cage and Eva's story had all the normal drama and angst that Abbi is known for. But, I did feel it cut off and didn't finish clean. Reminded me alot of Never Too Far's ending. So I do feel it was too short for the price the publisher set it at. $5 is a good price for 181 pages and a book I can finish in one sitting not almost $10. Will I continue to read her series- yes. But I may wait until they go on sale to purchase them, which is disappointing since I don't normally like to wait. But I'm finding it more difficult to justify these prices publishers are charging.

2.0 out of 5 stars Spoiled start to story. September 1, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
First let me say the prologue was really all you needed to read, it told you the whole story in those few pages. Also the book was way to expensive for the amount of errors and how short the story was. I really liked the first book in this series, but this book left a lot to be desired. I would have liked some resolution at the end, what happened did she go to school did he finish school but nothing. I really like this author but this was a let down.

When I first started reading the prologue I was...hang on did I miss something....then i was noooo...I loved this story it was heart breaking in parts and gloriously happy in others. It was great to see the next chapter in Cage and Eva's lives. We get to touch base with all our favourite sea breeze pals too which is great. As always Abbi does not disappoint. Loved this book. Cage is one gorgeous BB!

3.0 out of 5 stars Three stars for spelling/grammatical errors August 28, 2013
By lck033
Format:Kindle Edition
I absolutely adore Abbi Glines and have read all of her books... but for a $8.99 price tag, I expect editing. There were a TON of spelling and grammatical errors that I was so annoyed about. For a $2.99 book, I can look past it, but not when you are charging me almost $10. I just had a really tough time getting past it, hence the 3 stars.

The story itself was wonderful. I was super stressed by the prologue and was worried Cage and Eva would spend most of this book apart, but it wasn't the case. I really loved it!

Cage and Eva are no Rush and Blaire, but they are close!

More About the Author

When I'm being forced up a mountainside with a backpack weighing me down, terrified of meeting a bear around the next corner or when I'm being hauled out into choppy waters holding on for dear life afraid I'll be pitched over at any moment, I wonder why, exactly, I married my crazy husband. Then again having an adventurous if somewhat insane spouse has been the best muse a writer could ask for. My debut novel, Breathe - a YA contemporary romance, was released May,17, 2011 by Wild Child Publishing and it's thanks to one of those spur of the moment boat trips that sparked the idea for Breathe. I've been writing all my life but it wasn't until I tried my hand at YA fiction that I found my groove. Apparently I never really grew up, which may explain my marriage to a dare devil. I've recently signed the contract on my first YA paranormal titled Existence to be released this Christmas. On October 21, I will be releasing The Vincent Boys - an older YA romance with an edgier feel. It will be available in digital format on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. You can find me on Twitter @abbiglines I have a slight addiction....

She is one of my favorites too and will also have to pass because of the of publisher pricing. I think her writing is amazing and I will miss reading her newest book.
