5.0 out of 5 stars Fanelli's creation is a revelation
I turned to Sara Fanelli's latest book with great interest because I have so enjoyed many of her illustrated children's books such as Dear Diary, First Flight,Pinocchio, and others. I was amazed -- it is a totally new departure ....and yet still so suffused with Fanelli's utterly distinctive personality. It is a book for adults and the concept is engagingly simple. Fanelli...

2.0 out of 5 stars I tried, I really did.
I think I'm a fan of her earlier work, and the most current books just aren't for me. It was dark and too creepy for me. I miss the old Sara. I tried.

This review is from: Sometimes I Think, Sometimes I Am (Paperback)
I turned to Sara Fanelli's latest book with great interest because I have so enjoyed many of her illustrated children's books such as Dear Diary, First Flight,Pinocchio, and others. I was amazed -- it is a totally new departure ....and yet still so suffused with Fanelli's utterly distinctive personality. It is a book for adults and the concept is engagingly simple. Fanelli illustrates short quotations from world literature, and the philosophers, wits and thinkers of many cultures. These are grouped into broad categories which gives a sense of structure within the book.

Every conceivable mood and emotion is evoked and the exuberance of Fanelli's gloriously creative imagination colours the darkest as well as the liveliest and most joyful images. There is a marvellous book within a book within the book and you feel as if you are holding a precious artefact in your hands over and above the compelling images it contains. This is a book to return to again and again ... and is THE perfect gift.
