What everyone has been waiting for...,
By A Customer
This review is from: Somewhere in America (Audio CD)
Dynamite Boy has the largest and most devout following in Austin's exploding pop-punk scene. Their previous releases established them as serious contenders in the melodic punk wave that was started by Green Day and has spawned Blink-182, the Ataris and A New Found Glory. The hard-to-find "Hell is Other People" which came out on Offtime in the mid-90's and the popular "Finder's Keepers" showcased Dynamite Boy's songwriting and perfect technical execution. Fans have been waiting for their 3rd CD to see if the band can keep it going."Somewhere in America" doesn't disappoint. It is easily the best Dynamite Boy release to date, and will likely thrust the band into the mainstream. SIA features 13 new tracks (and a great hidden track cover of the They Might Be Giants classic Welcome to the Jungle). Each song is a potential radio hit, with Yearbook, Lullaby and Catching On being the most likely to grab attention. A.V. 99 and Paper Hearts show the band's ability to alter the forumla while staying true to the DB sound. The band's strength continues to be songwriting, but long months of touring have obviously sharpened their skills as musicians. All in all, this is a must-have CD for long time Dynamite Boy fans and new fans alike. With national touring to support this release, Dynamite Boy is destined to break into the big time. Listen for them on a radio station near you...

A Greenday Copy............With Style!,
By ric nutt (United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Somewhere in America (Audio CD)
When my mate first told me about this album i was very anxious to get a closr look at it,so after seeing a few reviews in various magazines,i decided to buy it.Once i got home i ran to my room and switched it on.As 'Catching On' Started i decided the tune was definitley the ska/punk i like, but when the vocals came in i thought i had picked up a Greenday CD by accident!.Dont get me wrong,i love greenday and Billy Joe's voice is superb, but i was looking for a newer, more punker kinda voice. But after listening to this whole record,i was very pleased with my buy.Dynamite Boy may be a Greenday copy,But they dont half do it well.
