What can I say? The voice of an angel. Country, blues, swing, Western, you grow it and Suzy Bogguss can cut it. This album "Somewhere Between" is one of many showing the fantastic talents of this lady. It's a shame Patsy Cline couldn't have heard her voice. She would have approved I'm sure. Suzy Bogguss has paid her dues. She has withstood the test of time. Hopefully, this fine talent will be around for a long, long, time.

Brilliant debut with interesting mix of songs,

Some people criticize this album for including western songs, country oldies and contemporary songs in the same album but I think it all adds to the charm.Western songs are represented by I wanna be a cowboy's sweetheart (a superb revival of the Patsy Montana classic, especially appreciated by those who had not heard the original), I'm at home on the range (a new song) and Night rider's lament. Country oldies are represented by Somewhere between (a Merle Haggard song) and My sweet love ain't around (a Hank Williams song. Guilty as the come is from the Rodney Crowell songbook. The remaining songs - Handyman's dream, Cross my broken heart, Take it like a man, Hopeless romantic - are all new. Suzy demonstrated on this album that she could sing any type of country song, that she had a superb voice (echoes of Emmylou) and that, if given the chance, she could become a major star. For whatever reason, Suzy never quite became a major star but she has made many wonderful albums and has a significant fan base. If you enjoy any of Suzy's music, or if you enjoy quality contemporary country music generally, you will surely love this album.

I had previously owned this album(even had it autographed), but it seems to have disappeared
from my CD collection, so I replaced it. The entire album is terrific, but I especially love the haunting NIGHT RIDERS LAMENT on which Suzy does a bang-up job. Great album.

I originally bought this album on tape about eighteen years ago. I recently paid it the compliment of buying it again on CD so I could rip the songs to my computer. The songs that I like best are the ones that Amazon's reviewer doesn't, but I keep my Sirius Sportster tuned to The Roadhouse when I am not straying into Outlaw Country. "I Want To Be A Cowboys Sweetheart" is a great revival of Patsy Montana's classic, and Bogguss' rendering of "Night Rider's Lament" is right up there with Jerry Jeff Walker's and even sounds a little prettier. The other songs on this album are all pretty good too.

The First From the Best,

This was Suzy's first commercial CD and, as with all her music, this is superb. She's the best voice around for my money. If you've the chance to see her perform in person, grab it.

ONE OF SUZY'S BEST,

SOMEWHERE BETWEEN IS ONE OF SUZY BOGGUSS BEST CD'S! I FIRST HEARD "CROSS MY BROKEN HEART" IN MY GARAGE, ON THE RADIO, AND HAVE BEEN IN LOVE WITH THAT VOICE, EVER SINCE. EVERY SONG FITS. ITS HARD TO PICK THE BEST SONG. THEIR ALL GREAT! BUT THERE IS ONE THAT STANDS OUT. SHE SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST. "NIGHT RIDER'S LAMENT" IS A CLASSIC. ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS. IF YOU LOVE SUZY, YOU HAVE TO HAVE THIS CD.

Purchased when it first came out 10 years ago. Always in the house cd player or car cd player. Many songs are good on this album but the first two still stand out as the work I like most, while my wife likes all but especially the last cut. Would like to see Ms Bogguss interject more of the traditional country in future albums, but remaining progressive, not pop rock. Does anybody yodel besides Suzy & Jewel.

For a first album (sponsored by a label) this is great! It falls into the Back to Traditional Country Movement of the eighties, but offers a lot more than typical honky-tonk. The album is a wonderful blend of humor and longing, making it easy to listen to whatever mood you may be in. Buy it! Listen to it!
