Book Description

The MacDonalds are coming! When Elizabeth MacDonald (a.k.a Beezus Mac) thrusts a sealed gold box at Angus Fergus amid panicked requests for him to hide the stolen artifact, she has no idea the ancient cloth it contains bestows unearthly powers. Red MacDonald knows and he’s hell-bent on traveling 400 years into the future to claim the charmed relic, even kill for it.
Protecting Beezus from his old nemesis is only one of Fergus’s problems. Before they can stop him, Morley MacDonald, descendant of Red MacDonald, snatches the prize and leaps through the time portal to head the MacDonald clan and kill Fergus’s MacKenzie ancestor. If he succeeds, Fergus will cease to exist.

Danger grows in the feud between the MacDonalds and the MacKenzies as the pair, along with an ingenious friend and high tech inventions, returns to 1604 Scotland to face these brawny Highlanders and reunite with kin. Will Fergus overcome his mistrust of Beezus and fan the growing spark between them before they battle Morley? If he waits, it may be too late.

From the Author

Somewhere in the Highlands is the sequel to Scottish time travel romance novel Somewhere My Lass. So many readers were taken by the strong, quirky character, Fergus, in Somewhere My Lass (as was I) that I decided to write Fergus's story. Now, I plan to write yet another story in this continuing saga--part of my Somewhere in Time series. Plotting is underway for that book. In the tone of Somewhere My Lass, Somewhere in the Highlands is an unusual twist on the time travel theme, with high tech gadgets, sci-fi lingo, and action packed. And a fun dash of romance, of course.
The Somewhere in Time Series; where the past meets the present.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read July 21, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have read all the Somewhere books and eagerly awaited Fergus' story. This author never disappoints. The characters, even the supporting cast, are so well developed, they take on a life of their own, and you can't help but be touched by the budding affection between Fergus and Beezus. This book has romance, action and intrigue. What's not to love? Not to be a plot spoiler, I particularly enjoyed the scene where Fergus attacks the Highlander with his Jedi sword. That scene establishes the geek as a true hero. From page to page, I routed for Fergus and Beezus in their quest. And I found myself wanting them to fall in love. If you haven't read Ms. Trissel's Somewhere series, you're missing a lot. Somewhere in the Highlands is up there with Somewhere My Love, one of my favorite books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another thrilling ride August 16, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Having read Somewhere my Lass (Somewhere in Time) I'm glad to see Fergus get his story fleshed out. And what a story....action, romance and a wee bit of the paranormal. I love all of Ms. Trissels' work and this book did not disappoint. Well, it did when it ended but right there, on her last page, was her caveat 'for now' .. so I'm hanging on to that :)

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fun Romp through time July 30, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Beth Trissel has surpassed herself! Somewhere in the Highlands is a fun romp through time. Fergus and his paranormal gang whip up some of the most innovative weapons you could ever imagine, while Beezus hinders the mission, both by with holding important information and beguiling Fergus with her charms. Those who have read the Somewhere books will recognize past characters who lend assistance once again, and create a wonderful sense of continuity to the series. You will find yourself wishing you could actually live such an adventure! Highly recommend this book!

4.0 out of 5 stars Somewhere in the Highlands August 25, 2013
By Eva
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
You have some of the same characters from Somewhere My Lass, in this one it's Fergus`s story. It was just as good as the first one. It has you traveling back in time once again, and finding love, and saving their very existence. Great characters, and wonderful story, it catches you up with Niall and Mora and let's you find out about Fergus`s relationship with them a little more.

3.0 out of 5 stars I wanted more August 29, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The beginning was a little confusing and it didn't explain who Beezus was and why she was in the house in the first place. I would've liked a little background on how they met. The relationship between Fergus and Beezus was a little disjointed, not very romantic and felt rushed. The middle was ok but the end seemed really rushed and I again wished for more. I agree with another reviewer with the fact that it seems like there's a lot missing, especially at the end. I couldn't believe that was it... Can you please go back and flush it out for us??? I do look forward to another book with the same characters but please don't rush us through.

More About the Author

Married to my high school sweetheart, I live on a farm in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia surrounded by my children, grandbabies, and assorted animals. An avid gardener, my love of herbs and heirloom plants figures into my work. The rich history of Virginia, the Native Americans and the people who journeyed here from far beyond her borders are at the heart of my inspiration. I'm deeply drawn to colonial America and the drama of the American Revolution. In addition to American settings, I also write historical and time travel romances set in the British Isles, and nonfiction about gardening, herbal lore, and country life.
