5.0 out of 5 stars Very good book
I read _The Sword of Macleod_ first and remember Tristan, the hero in this one, being vaguely mentioned. I wish I'd known more about him in the first book; he's great! If you like futuristics, this one is wonderful. :) Sweet, hot, and fantastic, I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys futuristics. :-)

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible! I had to make myself finish it.
I read a few good reviews and decided to give this book a try, I wish I hadn't. The plot is extremely weak and the heroine has to be the most unlikable I have ever come across. She is not only bigoted but betrays the hero numerous times throughout the novel. I couldn't for the life of me see what he saw in her let alone why he stupidly trusted her time and time again...

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic book!, January 5, 2001
This review is from: Somewhere, My Love (Futuristic Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Sha'Nara has been having mysterious, seductive dreams. However, she does not want a man in her life, despite the compelling dreams. She has "her career, her goals, and her father's expectations to keep her busy."

The day she was kidnapped should have been the longest, most boring day of her life. The assignment was to accompany the Director's General's daughter Jera to her wedding on another planet. By the time the women realized they had been kidnapped, they were far from their original destination.

Karen Fox weaves a fascinating tale of complexity and originality in SOMEWHERE MY LOVE. Although billed as a futuristic romance, it is considerably more than the typical genre romance. Fox brings an intriguing science fiction background to the tale, creating a powerful backdrop for the fast paced plot. Further characters are all vividly portrayed, drawing the reader deeply into the story. Very highly recommended.

She is not only bigoted but betrays the hero numerous times throughout the novel. I couldn't for the life of me see what he saw in her let alone why he stupidly trusted her time and time again. Supposedly there is an instant attraction between them and she has been dreaming about him for years..ok..but other than that I found no redeeming qualities about her that would cause her hero to be so enamored with her. By the end of the book I could no longer make myself care whether they ended up together or not. I think Triston's character showed way too much patience with her and deserved much better. Save your money there is so much better out there. For good sci-fi, paranormal, or time travel romance try Dara Joy (Knight of a Trillion Stars, Rejar, Mine to Take), Christine Feehan (anything in her "Dark" series) or Johanna Lindsey (Warrior's Woman or Until Forever) instead. This one is a wall banger.

4.0 out of 5 stars My lover, my enemy, August 17, 2001

As an officer of the Alliance, Sha'Nara had been trained to destroy the psychics who sought galactic domination. But on a mission to protect the Director-General's daughter, the beautiful bodyguard was abducted by one: Tristan-the most dazzlingly sensual man she'd ever encountered. Far from the monster she'd been prepared for, her enemy was a man whose dreams and desires she admired. And in the duel they waged, she felt him parry every thrust, and found herself pierced to the soul by the riposte of his kiss. Soon the fiery beauty knew that as surely as her body was Tristan's hostage, so was her heart, and she questioned all she'd ever known-for if the Alliance was right and Tristan's people were evil, there would never be a time or a place for their passion. But in his ardent embrace, Sha'Nara found herself hoping, praying, telling herself that they could be together somehow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved It, June 2, 2005
This review is from: Somewhere, My Love (Futuristic Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
This was my first Karen Fox book. I almost didn't pick it up from a sale they had at the store but I'm sure glad I did. This book was a great combination of romance/action/and science fiction. To me it felt like I was watching a movie in my head. I liked both the hero and the heroine Sha'Nara and Tristan and I loved the twists on the story near the end of the story. I suspected something was up with Sha'Nara and her "hunches". I also enjoyed the secondary romance of Cadell and Jacy. At the beginning I thought Jacy was going to be the "spoiled brat" bad girl of the story but I was glad it wasn't that way. I'm looking forward to reading other Karen Fox novels hopefully they are just as good.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Futuristic!, December 24, 1999
This review is from: Somewhere, My Love (Futuristic Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
This was a very believable romance, with two opposites that have quite a bit in common. The pace was steady, without too much exposition to ruin the story but enough to get you 'into' the universe.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent Futuristic, August 10, 2006
This review is from: Somewhere, My Love (Futuristic Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the story of ShaNara a police officer for the Alliance and Tristan a Scanner. Scanners are feared by the people of the alliance because of their psychic abilities and the fact that over a 100 years they led a revolution attempting to take over the galaxy. All the scanners want now is their freedom and a planet to call their own.

The police officers of the Alliance have the task of tracking down scanners and having them readjusted. In other words they perform a type of brain surgery taking away their psychic abilities. What the scanners know is that it leaves them in a vegetable state.

Shanara's father is a brutal leader of the police force who has been hiding the frightening reality of what readjustment really does. Shanara is sent to guard the Director General's daughter, Jada on the eve of her wedding to another planet's leader. When Tristen and Cadell kidnap them to force Jada's father to listen to their plea for freedom, Shanara and Jada start realizing that the scanners are being persecuted unjustly. Sparks fly between Tristen and Shanara and Jada and Cadell. Shanara struggles with her feelings for Tristan and her belief that her career was justified. When she finally sees the light, will they get the chance at a life together? First they must convince Jada's father that everything he ever believed is a farce.

The chemistry between these characters is great and the concept is good one. The problem is there is too much repetition in this book. Shanara trusts Tristan but follows her training and almost betrays him. Shanara trusts Tristan but follows her training and almost betrays him...etc....this happens with several instances in the book and gets to be annoying. However, on the most part it is passably enjoyable.

This is a story full of never ending action, passionate love, heartfelt hope!
If you liked "Knight of a Trillion Stars" I'm sure you'll like this even more! The heroin is strong, willful & knows what she's doing. The hero is irresistible!
It's a struggle between standing by what you believe & listening to what you feel!!
When you grow up all your life believing that someone is bad, to come to know them & have your faith & trust shaken!
I enjoyed it a lot & couldn't put it down.
Read it!! It's really good!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Balance!, May 21, 2002

So the book looked interesting when I read the comments and I decided to pick it up. This being my first Karen Fox novel, I was a bit skeptical. I usually stick to vampire stories and the such, but I was BLOWN AWAY by "Somewhere My Love". There was such a great balance between the main characters Tristan and Sha'Nara. You're never left wondering what one character is thinking while reading from the other's viewpoint. Also, the story doesn't just focus on the main characters. The other characters evolved so well that I cared about what happened to them as much as the main characters themselves. And I think it's because of this that I did NOT see what was coming at the end! It was such a surprise and I was not disappointed!

To anyone seeking a rest from romance novels with little plot or two-dimensional characters, I strongly recommend you pick this up. I can see I will be a huge Karen Fox fan for a long time to come and I wish her many, many more successful books in the future!

5.0 out of 5 stars This one is a keeper!, August 10, 2001

This review is from: Somewhere, My Love (Futuristic Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I thoroughly enjoyed Sha'Nara's and Tristan's story. These two are supposed "enemies" from birth. Sha'Nara's distrust and defiance toward Tristan and his people stem from a lifetime of learned attitudes and behaviors. I found this to be believable and blended in well with the story's plot. I also enjoyed the relationship between Jacy and Cadell. The ending holds a pleasing twist. I do not usually read futuristic romance's although am now looking forward to reading more from this author. I would enjoy reading about Devon's story, also.
