4.0 out of 5 stars Kevin Koelbl
An interesting mix of songwriters and pieces, performed in an engaging style. Great for entertaining or just curling up by a fireplace with a good book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful voice, dull arrangements
Cabaret CDs are loaded with tenors, so it's welcome to hear a new baritone. And one with such a resonant instrument. Too bad Koelbl doesn't bring much personality to anything he sings, and the arrangements aren't distinctive enough to make him shine. Nice try though.

This is a beautiful cd from start to finish. The arrangements are lush, and the tempo is peaceful and beautiful. I have streaming access to 850,000 songs, and this is the cd that I come back to most frequently. "You Are My Home" is a georgeous ballad, perfect for Koehbl's rich barratone. Check out the other cabaret/pop singers at www.lhlmusic.com as well. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Singer, October 16, 2006
This review is from: Somewhere in Time (Audio CD)
This CD showcases Kevin Koelbl's (his last name is pronounced "Cable") magnificent voice. The songs demonstrate that he is capable of singing a wide variety of musical styles, from pop standards, to country, jazz, and classical. While I enjoyed all of the songs, I think that my favorite is his version of In a Very Unusual Way, with a lush piano arrangement, that reflects his classical vocal training. Somewhere in Time was featured in the show EFX, that originally starred Michael Crawford, and, later, Mr. Koelbl, among others. The song Time After Time included here is a fine song, and he sings it well. (It's not the song of the same title made famous by Cyndi Lauper.) Mr. Koelbl should be headlining a Broadway show or touring the country in concerts, based on his performance on this CD. I hope that he records another CD soon. I would love hear to more music from him. I enjoy listening to this CD frequently. Highly recommended.
