Wonderful world music,

This is a dynamic and engaging band. The vocals are haunting and distinctive. The rythyms are exciting and diverse. The progressive themes of oppression and imperialism resonate today in the Bush dominated world scene with much the same intensity as they did during Reagan's regime. Highly recommended!

Excellent album from the former Sabia group,

This review is from: Somewhere in the World (Audio CD)
I saw the group, "Sabia," in the late 1980s when they performed in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois and, besides the timely political messages to the beautiful lyrics, their sound was unique, spirited and contagious. I am so pleased to see that part of that group is back and that they have done this fantastic cd. The music is as electric as ever, and the vocals of Libby Harding give the band its signature sound. I have listened to this cd over and over and I enjoy it thoroughly.

Average mixed bag,
By Your librarian (St Louis) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Somewhere in the World (Audio CD)
If this obscure band aims for any particular listening audience it is difficult to tell from this album. Some of the songs on this offering can best be compared to light pop music, while others are angled more toward light Latino pop. What results is an indistinctive album that will likely be lost in the back of used CD stores across America. While its music is not marred by obvious errors, this [apparently]5-person band of unknown roots also seems to lack the fire and punch that would give them breakthrough energy to be really successful. This is what mediocre sound like.
