Despite much controversy behind "Nuestro Himno", it is truly a beautiful rendition of the "Star Spangled Spanner". A live performance of one of the featured groups, Voz a Voz prompted me to purchase this album. The energy and passion I saw live are translated perfectly on here.

There are also several other songs on this album by Latin music's top artists that make this a worthwile purchase.

I had been a fan of "Nuestro Himno" when I first heard it on Yahoo.com. When I learned of it's availabilty I immediately purchased it, especially since the record label that released it will be donating money to the National Capital Immigration Coalition from all sales.

Features Obie Bermudez, Reik, Pitbull, Ivy Queen, Frank Reyes, Carlos Ponce, Bacilos, Kumbia Kings, Aventura and many other big names in Latin music. I couldn't pass this one up!

I first heard about "Nuestro Himno", the Spanish version of the Star Spangled banner a few weeks ago on the news, and thought nothing of it. As time progressed, I found out that the song had been the start of a national debate! Up until then, I hadn't actually heard it.

On May 30th, I saw a story on MSNBC about the song being performed on Ellis Island. I watched and was amazed. The CEO of the record company that put the album out also spoke, and what he said made sense. "With all the sexist and sexual and negative lyrics in genres like Rap and Reggaeton, why are they focusing on us, who are spreading a message of positivity and love?"

I agreed, and got this album. Also, a portion of the proceeds are donated to immigration organizations.
