Pablo A. Jiménez is an ordained minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) [CCDC]. Born in New York, he grew up in Puerto Rico. He has a B.A. (French) from the University of Puerto Rico; an M. Div. from the Evangelical Seminary of Puerto Rico; an S.T.M. (New Testament and Preaching) from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, IN; and a D.Min. from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA.
Dr. Jiménez has served as pastor of the CCDC in Sonadora, Guaynabo, PR; Director of the "Rev. Juan Figueroa Umpierre" Bible Institute of the CCDC in Puerto Rico; Executive Director of the Association for Hispanic Theological Education (AETH); and manager of the Hispanic Summer Program (HSP). He has also served as Professor of New Testament and Preaching at the Latin American Biblical Seminary in San José, Costa Rica and as Instructor of Homiletics at the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest, in Austin, TX. Besides, he has offered courses of homiletics at several theological schools, such as the Evangelical Seminary of Puerto Rico, Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Church of God Theological School (Puerto Rico Extension), Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, Princeton Theological Seminary (through the Hispanic Summer Program), San Francisco Theological Seminary (Claremont Extension), South Florida Center for Theological Studies (Orlando Extension) and the Disciples Seminary Foundation (Claremont). A member of the Academy of Homiletics, he is the only Hispanic scholar who has offered bilingual courses for the College of Preachers, at the National Washington Cathedral in Washington, DC.
Dr. Jiménez has offered the Krausse Lectures, of the Lutheran Seminary Program in the Southwest, Austin, TX (1995); the Blandy Lectures, of the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest, Austin, TX (1998); the Wells Sermons, at University Christian Church, Fort Worth, TX (2002); and the Casalis Lecture, at the Facultad Evangélica de Estudios Teológicos, Managua, Nicaragua (2004), among many others. Pablo has preached and taught in several countries, such as Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Dominican Republic and Venezuela. Pablo is a prolific writer and an experienced editor of religious materials. He has also produced educational videos, radio shows and religious websites.
From January 1, 2000 to July 31, 2005, Pablo served as the National Pastor for Hispanic Ministries of the CCDC in the United States and Canada. From August 1st, 2005, to July 31, 2006, Pablo served the Senior Editor of Chalice Press, an imprint of the Christian Board of Publications (CBP).
Since August 2006, Pablo serves as Senior Pastor of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the community of Espinosa, in the city of Dorado, Puerto Rico. Since that date, He also serves as Consultant Editor for Chalice Press. Pablo is married to Glorimar and has three children: Antonio José, Paola Margarita and Natalia Isabel.
