O Roberto - Where are you now? It's been five years since this amazing album came out, and, patient as I am, I want to hear more of your original musicianship...you and your band are simply amazing (applause) !

I first heard the song "Sueno Mama" from the Putumayo Presents Latin Lounge CD from 2004. I was instantly riveted to the sensual, languid, honey-voiced Poveda and his destined-to-be-a-classic composition. I rarely buy a CD based on one song but I made an exception, and I have been rewarded greatly.

Mr. Poveda has created this CD (six of the ten songs are his originals, the rest are co-written) with great care. Each of the songs are terrific - I would not call his music "latin pop" or "latin Jazz", but rather, as Putumayo has classified it, "latin lounge" - - and "Son Electrico" is a valuable accomplishment in both the genres of Latin Music AND World Music in general.

New Cuban sounds from this original artist. I recommed track # 3. It is incredible how many good things this guy can do by singing. Good luck!!

While sitting in a European Cafe smoking a Havana and drinking a cup of cappuccino with a Slavic girl friend of mine, I could not help listening to the unique sound of this CD that was being played. I asked the waitress who was playing and singing the songs, the answer was Roberto Poveda from Cuba! My Slavic girl friend admitted that the music was very sensuous and she wanted a copy for herself. I like this CD it's the new Cuban sound, all the tracks are great, I especially like #7, it reminds me of a very special friend from Florida City (Tag Agency) a gringa that I met while on vacation in Florida. We both danced to the track #7 and I dedicated the song to her. I'm glad that the Cuban music is changing; it's about time! This CD is awesome. Buy it! I hope Roberto will continue recording with this sound.
