Celia Cruz with the Alegre All Stars!!!, April 12, 2011
This review is from: Son Con Guaguanco (Audio CD)
This 1968 nrelease is one of Celia's most unfairly underrated albums. Released on Tico Records, it's noteworthy because it was the ONLY album on which Celia Cruz was accompanied by the legendary Alegre All Stars. If you've never heard this album before, you really need to get it as its filled with the ultra-hot, in-your-face, no-holds-barred HARD Salsa grooves which the Alegre All-Stars were known for coupled with Celia's inspired improvisations. Charlie Palmieri, Jose "Chombo" Silva, Kako and many other members of this legendary band played on this album and it's sad (and shameful) that this album is not better-known.

Excellent Celia, April 3, 2009
This review is from: Son Con Guaguanco (Audio CD)
I picked up this CD not having heard any of Celia's 60s music and was pleasantly surprised. This is hot early salsa music, very energetic and danceable. Celia's voice is at its height and the musicianship on the album cuts is expert. I have been replaying this CD for the last week and am looking forward to checking out some of Celia's other 60s albums still in print.
