Great cd great band. If we cant get a new Utters cd again, I'd be ok with it if the Bastards would keep cranking them out. A rare side project that is just as good if not better than the original.

Another Classic,
This review is from: I'm a Son of a Gun (Audio CD)
Filthy Thieving Bastards's 4th studio album under BYO records (2007).If you have listened them already, there will be no surprises in this album, suspecting a good deal of melodies and unplugged insaneness. The Irish-Pub influences are also prevalent here at songs like "Phony Drunken Poet," "When The Wallflowers Wilt" and "Oh, Sweet Misery." Compared to the previous album of "My Pappy Was a Pistol," the 60's pop elements are faded slightly away from the presence, but you can still hear its influence at songs like "I Sure Enjoyed My Stay," and "Dumb Dead Goats." They also take a new approach at "Down Every Day," which I cannot describe the music direction of this song, but you can hear it at their Myspace page. Overall, this is another solid output by Filthy Thieving Bastards, although it is not as perfect as other three albums, especially my favorite "A Melody Of Retreads And Broken Quills." Also, this album seems to come as a sequence of "My Pappy Was a Pistol" both conceptually and musically, and even that the cover design looks similar. Like other albums, there are absolutely no filler tracks in this album for sure. You just grab the booze and listen along fast. It is very easy listen. Music is simple, but entertaining with a lot of "hooks." If you are fans of alike of Swingin' Utters, Pogues, and Dropkick Murphys, you can be no wrong with going to try this album.
