I recently returned from the Aspen Jazz Festival where I had the thrill of seeing and meeting Maraca and his band. They made me feel so alive and they are wonderful performers, very polished, and good enough for me to fly to Oakland to see them again. I recommend the cd.You will not be disappointed.

This album is a strong statement from a rapidly maturing Cuban talent and his band. On this CD the band show how versatile they are with compositions based on Cuban rhythms but with the depth and creativity that comes with the best Jazz. This is a CD which deserves and repays repeated plays on your hi-fi and is highly recommended. In addition, I also strongly recommend the more recent Descarga CD which is one of the strongest Latin Jazz productions you will hear.

I missed this band when they came to London recently and have been kicking myself ever since as this is one band I would particularly like to hear live. Oye, Maraca! When are you coming back to London - let me know, I'll be there!

Forget the Beuna Vista Social Club? Yes, they me be a heavily promoted pickup band but you have to pay respect to the masters who invented the sound.

Without them there may be no Maraca as we know it today.

A better group of musicians would be impossible to put together. These guys blend seamlessly and represent the best Cuban music heard today. Forget the hype of Buena Vista Social Club. This is the real deal, not some gringo's idea of it.

WhoooHooooo!! From the first cut to the last, this CD kicks serious butt! If you enjoy Latin music at all, this is a MUST HAVE. Put it on....grab a Pina Colada...close your eyes...and your seaside in Havana. What a rush this CD is! Love it!
