I was shocked to see that "Sonando" was in "limited availability" and no one had reviewed it yet. Goodness gracious, this is a masterpiece! And it is Poncho's debut album following his Cal Tjader days. I was an avid follower of Poncho in the 80s and am less familiar with his more recent material, but this one set both the style and the standard for several albums that followed. If you love Poncho, as you must if you made it this far down the Amazon list, then you know what he is capable of and you owe it to yourself to own this amazing collection of some of the best latin jazz ever laid down.

This cd is awesome....I didn't know this was his debut album, I just bought it for the song "Este Son" which gets played heavily. I wish the songs were longer...I get so mezmerized, I don't want them to end. I started listening to Pocho 3 years ago when I met my cuban man and got turned out( in a good way) "Night in Tunisia" is great and "Tres Tambores Bata" is another fav. I'm is love w/ Perico Hernandez voice on "Este Son and Tres" his voice is so intoxicating...well enjoy this cd and if you can find "Keeper of the Flame" you'll get a double cd w/ "Sonado and Bien Sabroso" for a steal.
