Great Liszt by an artist who deserves much more attention,
By Yi HW "ape2man" (a cosmopolitan bound by the ROK nationality) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sonata: Piano Works by Franz Liszt (Audio CD)
I love the sonata played by Robert Silverman. He shapes this grandeur brilliantly. I can feel true Romanticism from his playing. He has technique, power, sensitivity and especially tonal depth which nowadays 'Star Pianists' often lack. Silverman's sonata is in the same league with Minoru Nojima and Arnaldo Cohen. Other pieces are also great. The two Gondolas fully reflect late Liszt as a proto-modernist. I'd really like his Liszt recital and Copland (previously on LP) to be re-released on CD. My highest recommendation!
