FABULOUS BRILLIANT WONDERFUL OUTSTANDING FANTASTIC MARVELOUS,
By A Customer
This review is from: Song Cinema (Audio CD)
"When the Mountains Fall"- 8/10 Great song. The song is about relying on God and Jesus and to hold on to faith and hope."Back in His Arms Again"- 10/10 Outstanding song! This song was my favorite for a long time, and the reason I bought this CD was because of this particular song. Mark wrote this song because (and it says this in the booklet on the cover of the CD) one of his college students from the youth group came home for Christmas break disappointed because he had gotten so far from God. Mark wrote this song as encouragement of God's promise to pursue him. "Think of Me"- 7/10 Not my favorite, but good. It's about how we are all one in Christ. "I Have Been There"- 8/10 Great! God is speaking and telling a family that He has been there, done that and overcame His problems. He built us a bridge that could lead us home- dying on the cross. "Kyrie Eleison"- 9/10 Great song! Kyrie Eleison translated means "Lord Have Mercy On Us". He says Kyrie Eleison wherever we go. "The Holy One"- 9/10 Outstanding. This song was written from the perspective of someone who knew Jesus as a friend. This song was very inspirational. I could picture exactly what was going on the entire song, almost like I was watching a movie. Yeah, it was that good. :) "Back to You"- 8/10 Very good! I liked the words more than the way he sang it. The words = 9, and the singing = 7, so that averages to = 8. Mark thanks God for everything he has. God is all around us. He hears nature singing and pretends they are praising God. Very creative, very cute. "Faith, Hope, and Love"- 7/10 So-so. I usually skip this song, but I'll still write a review about it. Mark wrote this song for his graduating seniors. He sings about where would we be without faith, hope, and love? He doesn't give you the answer to that, but I will- HELL... don't wanna go there. "The Time of My Life"- 10/10 I loved it! It's about this guy who says the girl he loves is the only girl he'll ever love. He writes her a letter saying that, and they get married, and then 40 years later she still had the letter, and always would. "We Are Calling You"- 10/10 VERY creative! This was a brilliant song from a brilliant man. There's some congo language... actually the whole song is mainly that... but it sounds great! The CD should come with the booklet, and it has the words he's saying as well as what they mean. I loved this song! I recommend this CD to every Christian. Buy this CD because you will be so glad you did. It is worth every penny. I would have given it a 6 star, but that wasn't an option.

A wonderful surprise,
This review is from: Song Cinema (Audio CD)
I first heard Mark Schultz on a "WoW" compilation a few years back. It was my first real foray into Christian music (though my wife owns quite a bit of it), and I enjoyed many of the songs I heard. But one song stayed with me, playing in my head until I had to listen to it daily in order to get it out of my brain for a while. That song was "I Am the Way," from Mark's first album. I was so impressed that I bought it, which led to my acquisition of "Song Cinema." So far, I have to say that Mark has indeed been a wonderful surprise. As good as his debut was, "Song Cinema" may be even better. His wonderful blend of solid songwriting, great lyrics, and a deep personal faith, so perfectly realised on his debut, is even stronger here. The best comparison, both musically and vocally, is to Richard Marx in his prime. All of the songs on this album are very entertaining, full of great harmonies and strong statements of faith, and there are some tracks which are real standouts: I normally despise remakes (ususally a sign of an artist lacking in originality), but his reimagining of the old Mr. Mister standard "Kyrie" is a real treat, and is not an insult to the original; there's also the memorable opening track, "When the Mountains Fall," a perfectly harmonized sing-along-to-it song; and the redemptive "I Have Been There," which is a wonderful expression of the depth of his faith. This is a great follow-up to an excellent debut, and is highly recommended.

His lyrics...the emotion he puts into each and every song...I have cried on so many occasions listening to some of his songs...and the lyrics hit so close to home. This man is a wonderful artist.

I saw him in concert and he was just awesome! He's a very humble man that loves to tell stories about how Jesus touched that person's life. His voice reminds me of the lead singer of the mainstream band Styx. I love the CD and can play it over and over again! I highly recommend this CD!

I purchased this CD because of the songs I Have Been There and Back in His Arms Again and hoped I'd find other songs I'd like. I wasn't disappointed. Among other great songs, Mark has a great version of Kyrie and the song Holy One was worth the price of the CD alone.

Mark Schultz Rocks!,
This review is from: Song Cinema (Audio CD)
This CD is great. I still listen to this CD from time and time and I'm blessed by it. "I Have Been There" speaks clearly of Christ's love for us and reminds me that He truly does know what it's like to face trials in this world.

I think what first gave me the urge to buy this CD was "Think of Me." a duet with Rachel Lampa. But it turns out the whole CD was absolutely phonomenal! Mark Schultz is a brilliant man, and the one thing that I love about his music, is that they really mean something. He even gives an insiders look into each song in the little pamphlet thing. His music is great, his voice is great, and he's just great too! I highly recommend you buy this if you've already bought his first album, if you've heard him on the radio, like Christian music, or just want something to uplift your spirit. I promise that you'll be in a better mood because of it.

No sophomore slump on SONG CINEMA...,

Mark Schultz has released an incredible follow-up to his eponymous debut album -- in fact, like the first disc, I found that I liked every song I heard even on first listen. (And I can always manage to find at least one song I don't like in ANY collection.)Stand-out tunes include the first two Christian radio singles, 'I Have Been There' and 'Back In His Arms Again', as well as 'Faith, Hope & Love' and the touching 'Time of My Life'. A token duet is included (with the VERY talented Rachel Lampa -- keep an eye/ear out for HER in the future), and some might be surprised to hear a remake of Mr. Mister's 'Kyrie Eleison'. It was one of Mark's favorite "cruising" tunes in high school, when he'd drive around and sing the song along with the radio! If you're looking for good rock music with thought-provoking, Christ-centered lyrics, this is your man -- in fact, make sure you buy the debut album too, because you won't be disappointed.

2 Thumbs Up For Song Cinema,
By A Customer
This review is from: Song Cinema (Audio CD)
Mark Schultz's Song Cinema is one of those rare albums that never gives you reason to reach for the Skip button on your CD player. Simply put, there are no duds here; every song is a winner. Schultz takes snapshots of his life and turns them into songs that demonstrate biblical truths on a personal level and in a non-preachy manner. The #1 hit, "I Have Been There", confronts hard moments in peoples' lives with an overriding message of hope in a memorably uplifting lyrical and musical chorus. In fact, hope is a theme that threads its way throughout the album, such as on the rousingly upbeat and hook-filled opener, "When The Mountains Fall". Equally inspiring is the anthemic "Faith, Hope, And Love", which you can't help but sing along to with a smile. Schultz breathes new life into his remake of the 80's classic, "Kyrie", and his love for the song is obvious in the way that he so powerfully presents it to the listener. Elsewhere in the album, he gets a little help from his friends, as Rachael Lampa's angellic vocals illuminate the beautiful duet, "Think Of Me", and Chris Rice underscores the sense of needfulness in the intense "Holy One". "Back In His Arms Again", meanwhile, combines all of the positive traits on the other songs to make it arguably the most outstanding track on Song Cinema. Overall, Schultz's passionate vocals, personal-yet-relatable lyrics, and ear-grabbing melodic hooks make Song Cinema stand out from the pack in my CD collection. Its 5-star rating is well-deserved.

I've loved Mark Schultz ever since his first song, I am the Way. He gives me a boost of inspiration, a good cry or a comfort when I'm lonely. I cannot decide which of his CDs are better. I can't wait for his next.
