This review is from: The Song of the Goddess (Paperback)
It is obvious that whoever is interested in Indian Philosophy, Bhagavat Gita is one of the main texts to read. Still, for the ones who would like to indulge deeper, it is nice to have Devi Gita in english, which is the philosophy revealed by Devi.
The book starts by a short summary of the epic -after death of Sati- from Shiva Purana, and how much a son of Shiva is needed to save the world from a demon. In accordance with advice from Vishnu, the gods worship Devi for help, and got the promise from the Goddess herself that she will be born as the daughter of the King of Himalaya Mountain, namely Himavan.
When humble Himavan asks from Devi to explain him the universal truth, as he is moved by being in the presence of the Devi and astonished by the news that she will be born as his daughter, Devi accepted to tell her way of philosophy, or song / gita.
It is a wonderful text that is translated with beautifully simple english. I recommend it to everyone who is interested in Indian Philosophy.
