I have to admit that I love Ted Nasmith's work, so was predisposed to like this calendar. For the most part, he rendered the castles wonderfully. Even when I disagree with his take on them, they are still wonderful pieces. Of the 13 castles, 10 are perfect. The renderings of Winterfell, Highgarden, The Red Keep, Riverun, The Eyrie, and Sunspear are particularly fine. One, Casterly Rock, is a very imaginative rendering that, while not being what I had pictured, was so well done that it convinced me. Only 2, Harrenhal and Storms End, were "wrong," and even then, they were beautifully done. In Short, for G. R. R. Martin and fantasy artwork fans, this calendar is well worth it!

I don't normally buy calendars for a new year 5 months ahead of time, but didn't want to wait to get this one since I missed out on the 2009 George R.R. Martin "Song of Ice and Fire" calendar. I am a fan of Ted Nasmith's work, particularly his illustrations for Tolkien's "Silmarillion," and the artwork in this calendar is equally stunning. The detail in the paintings is exquisite. There is one castle for each month plus a large gatefold. If you are a fan of Nasmith's, Martin's, or both, I highly recommend this calendar.

This calendar contains a beautiful rendering of just about every major castle in the ASOAF series, and each and every one of the castles does two things: 1) it meets my expectations in terms of the particular detail built by GRRM. 2) They exceed my expectations with regard to the overall beauty of each castle. The artist is amazing. While every one is incredible, I think Castle Black is my personal favorite. I'm excited to actually use the calendar once 2011 rolls around.

If you're a fan of A Song of Ice and Fire and want to know what the castles of Westeron look like before the HBO series, here's your chance. And, the artwork is by the BEST and brilliant Ted Nasmith who has done a lot for Lord of the Rings. Now was his chance at something new and different. He worked closely with Martin on this project and it doesn't disappoint. Order it today!

I was in a local bookstore today- looking at all the great books I did not get for Christmas gifts- and I inadvertently walked into the calendar section. I saw a couple that looked mildly interesting (one called "wonders of the world" for example) and then I saw this calendar. I am a fan GRRM's books so I was immediately picked it up and flipped through it. The illustrations are wonderful (I especially liked the one of the Hightower of Oldtown) and are mostly accurate. They even matched up the castles to months that represent them well. For example, Winterfell is the picture in January and Sunspear is the picture for August. The wonderful illustrations, and the fact that most bookstores have calendars 50% off right now, make this calendar worthy of a 5-star rating.

The Calendar is great!! Great art work of the castles in George R. R. Martin's A Song if Ice and Fire series of books. The Artist is Ted Nasmith and he has done a fantastic job of painting his version of the beautiful castles in Westeros.
I got it at a good price and best of all it came quickly, no problems! Looking forward to the HBO adaptation Game Of Thrones to air in the spring of 2011.

Reading the books of "A Song of Ice and Fire" really gives appreciation to the Calendar. The descriptions in the stories and the calendar are so much alike! I really cann't wait till the next book comes out. The Vividman

This is the latest calendar for ASoI&F 2011. It focuses on the castles belonging to the seat of the seven great houses of Westeros. Each is lovingly rendered by renowned Tolkiet artist Ted Nasmith. I truly hope to see Nasmith become the official illustrator for ASoI&F the same as Alan Lee and John Howe have become for Middle-Earth. If you are a fan of the novels this is a great calendar to have. I just started reading GoT and am nearly done and this calendar has truly helped bring some of the places in the novels come to life. Simply gorgeous!!

The pictures are nice, but the series has now become a joke. So it's like buying a calendar for C.H.I.P.s without the camp value.
