Awesome Talent,
By
This review is from: A Song in Jazz (Audio CD)
Debbie Poryes has gigantic skills at the piano. I've been blessed to take a few classes in piano from her and I've got to say, her personality matches her enormous skills at the keyboard. She exudes joy and pleasure at teaching others what she knows in music and she enjoys seeing her students learn. Her recent cd titled "A Song in Jazz" is testament in and of itself of her wonderful talent. I think this cd should be in the library of every jazz aficionado. Enjoy.

Real Jazz,
This review is from: A Song in Jazz (Audio CD)
Yep...every once in a while ya buy a CD that you just can't use as backgroup music. Enter Debbie Poryes! In a word--WOW. Warm, thoughtful and with original voicings, She harnesses the power and sublty of the Jazz greats with ease. As I was listning to her CD my wife(a long time pianist) came into the room and remarked at what a beautiful touch Debbie had on the piano. Something not often heard on Jazz recordings.
I was struck by the first cut "A Wonderful Guy". Now I am a classical organist and harpsichordist and composer and I barely tolerate show tunes, BUT, To hear Ms. Poryes create multiple melodies within the tune sheds a whole new light on that song. If you want upbeat and orginal sounding Bop combinded with silky warm piano tones GET THIS CD!!!! ---Ron McKean Composer and Performer
