This box-set including Caterina's complete English-language singles and albums produced for Decca, London and RCA-Victor from 1959 to 1973 plus many unissued songs is a "must" for a Valente-Fan. The 9 CDs prove her unlimited versatility to sing ballads as well as show tunes and pop songs... due to Caterina's fantastic ability to present the songs sometimes in a swinging mood, sometimes in a really jazzy performance and, sometimes in a romantic and most sensitive way. I got the box yesterday and can't stop listening... This box exceeds all expectations and is even better than the Polydor-Box "Stairway To The Stars".

I was thrilled to find this marvelous collection of Ms Valente. Herein are most of her English recordings from the later 50s to early 70s. Also included are many foreign language issues from her hey-day(tho she will always be at her peak for me!) A lot to love here. Great book(100 pages!) comes with it. Great photos etc: but... it is in German and no English translation is available. You'll have to make your own.Highest recommendation to all lovers of superb singing. Forget the price. As they say in the commercial... "Priceless!" By-the-way... check out Caterina on "YouTube" Amazing!!! |
