More About the Author

Lesley Simpson began writing as a kid to cure her insomnia. She was afraid of math and used to have math nightmares. Her first article, "What to do when you can't fall asleep and have run out of flashlight batteries" was published in an anthology of articles written by kids and chosen by kids. She wrote it when she was 11 years old, and shared her insomniac strategies which ranged from putting on pimple cream if required, messing your bed, and talking to your plants. Simpson has worked as a reporter for Canadian daily newspapers as a journalist, taught university courses in writing and journalism in Canada, and is the author of a series of picture books. Her newest book is called A Song For My Sister. A Song For My Sister is about the power of music. Simpson secretly would love to be a singer but has confined that passion to the audience of her bathroom shower.

We have a six year old girl, and she has a two year old little sister, so the book resonates with her and us. A very sweet book, highly recommended (but maybe not to boys)!
