Threadgill the Composer,
By Stephen (Virginia Beach, VA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Song Out of My Trees (Audio CD)
Since Threadgill only palys on two of these tracks, its primarily about the compostitions. That doesn't mean these players aren't wonderful. Ed Cherry and Brandon Ross have been reinventing what guitar can do in a jazz band for some time now and Meyers plays some interesting harpsichord on one track and her great moving organ on another and accordian/harmonuim master Tony Cedras shows uo for a track. At close to ten minutes and containing powerful but odd vocals, Grief is the centerpiece of this set. |
